Favorite dog breeds?

Goldens and Labs are bar none the best family dogs you could have. If you walk into a house with a Golden you have never met, you will have a best friend immediately lol.

I have 2, a rescue "Podcake" Golden Carolina Dog, and a Leonberger. The Leo is a great watch dog and is good if you introduce her, but if a stranger just walks in my house without permission, it is a problem.

Don’t know much about Leonbergers. Look like they’re down for much petting.

Golden Retriever. Fairly bright, even tempered and friendly. Good with kids.

Curious for any of the Golden Retriever owners - how was the puppy period through young years for you? Ours is almost 2 years old and her energy is absolutely endless. She's not a bad dog by any means, but she's exhausting.

They are a winter breed. Love being outside. I will try to find a pic of her covered in snow sleeping like a baby. They like to patrol the perimeter of a property. Very affectionate but for short periods as they get hot. Belly rubs and back scratches they love, lying under a blanket not so much. Strong dog, not known for sight or smell.

cheers. Hope you find some more pics.

Same. Our family had two and they were both a lot of work in the youngster years. We did crate training with the first one but not the second. No leash or walking training either as we had a large fenced in yard.

I have a lab/golden mix. Amazing dog. So gentle and an amazing retriever. Retrieving partridge well and just starting with ducks.

A guy goes to a hospital and this happens:
He lies down on the bed thingy and waits.
A big black Labrador comes in and sniffs the dude from head to toe. Then, a cat comes in and checks him out. A month later, he gets a bill for $1,500.

"What was this for?!" he said as he was on the phone with the doctor.

"Oh," she said, looking into his records, "that was for the Lab Test and the Cat Scan."

Ours was a handfull for the first 9 months. When it jumped up on my elderly 90lbs mother I snapped and bought a training collar (garmin waterproof one). After a few beep warnings and shocks she came right in-line. Amazing dog now and collar only comes out for off-leash retrieving sessions (beep to get her to drop). I remember everyone saying "they calm down around 3 years old". I couldn't wait that long. She's crate trained and 2.5 years old. Amazing dog.

Great Danes, Huskies, Samoyeds and Saint Bernards are my favorites. All of these breeds seem to think they are humans and never seem to realize how big they are. They are very good with children. The dogs I've had liked to pull when taking them for a walk on a leash. Kids would want to take them for a walk and the dogs were completely different with a child holding the leash. The Great Dane was the only one I worried about around children as one swipe of his tail could knock them down and that tail was always wagging.

all good choices. I just wish the larger breeds had a longer lifespan.

All my dogs are rescues so I've never picked by breed. Of all the dogs I've had there's only been two "bad dogs" and they were both German shepherds.

When it comes to favorite breed, my Lab/greyhound mix is my favorite dog followed by my first dog that was a Jack Russell/Beagle mix.

When I was a little kid out next door neighbors had a Samoyed named “Sammy”. He was a good boy.

As an owner of a Cairn Terrier I’m partial to that breed.

Bad in what aspect? Health or temperament?
