He beat Brock for the belt, beat JDS twice for the belt and beat BigFoot for the belt. All JDS did was beat Cain for the belt once when Cain came in injured.

He isn't some new champ that has to prove himself by defending it. He's a veteran of the sport who has one of the best HW resumes ever, including wins over Fedor, Nog and Cain.

Yes that makes him an all-time great heavyweight. It doesn't automatically make him a great UFC champion.

I figured that would me brought up. I'm saying I believe Werdum as champion could beat any other champ the UFC had. Sure, Tim Sylvia has more title defences than about anyone, but this Werdum I believe would beat any version of Big Tim. Hence, the greater HW. A man at his best that could beat anyone no matter the brief period of time he was at his best is my criteria. Some don't judge it that way, some do. That's why I have a fondness with Iron Mike/Cus because I think they were as close to the boxing world got for creating the greatest hw. From 86 to 88 he (could) have beaten anybody in history, and for that alone I think warrants a top 10 list.

I bet Fabricio beating Fedor was better than winning the UFC title for him. There was a time Fedor was the baddest man on the planet that could wreck the entire UFC roster, Werdum recognizes this and rightfully puts him at number one.
