Hunt's kinda hard to rank cuz yes, he's a 2-sport top fighter and yes, he has experience over a long period and some quality wins, but also that ugly stretch he had and the early transitioning period where he did very well considering his time grappling, but also had mixed results.

Barnett, JDS and Cro Cop have done more in MMA. Cro Cop more in both combined. Fedor, Nog, Werdum for the 3rd spot and then it gets closer with Barnett, Mirko, JDS, Couture and Cain...although Cain is 13-2 with not many great wins. Great fighter for sure but not someone I'd put on top of a all-time list.

Cain is nowhere near top 5. Neither is Hunt. JDS, Overeem, CC and Barnett are all ahead of them, PRobly Arlovski too

Interesting, thanks for posting TS. I'm a little surprised he did not include Cro Cop, especially since they used to train together, but it's a cool list. Most will gripe about the inclusion of Hunt and neither his record nor his resume merits his inclusion but Werdum has fought almost all the great heavyweights and if he feels Hunt is one of the best I'm inclined to trust his judgment. It's only one man's opinion after all.

I can't blame Werdum at all for including himself. In fact, in my opinion I'd say he's still being modest. I'd probably rate him at #2 at this point, but if he defends his belt successfully against Miocic and settles the score with Overeem (maybe avenge his loss against JDS as well if I'm being greedy), that'd put him at joined #1 alongside Emelianenko in my book. Any further wins after that would be great, but I can't see Emelianenko going down to #2 best HW yet any time soon.

JDS loses - Cain x 2, Overeem

Cain wins - JDS x 2, TRT Bigfoot x 2, Lesnar, Kongo, Rothwell, Old Nog

Cain loses - JDS, Werdum

Crocop wins - Barnett x 3, Herring, Fujita x 2, Aleks, Wanderlei, Coleman, Igor, Randleman, Yoshida.

Crocop loses - Fedor, Nog, Hunt

Cain is obviously 2-1 with JDS but then again JDS is 1-0 with Werdum who beat Cain and neither man has turned out to be the dominant forces of their era they were hyped to be. So whilst yeah Cains wins over JDS are big there not Fedor/Nog big plus Jnr has more in the way of good quality wins against a wider range of opponents.

Those fights were not at HW. Not to mention he also lost to chuck twice. He also lost to a lot of other not so greats.

Being the champ isnt that impressive when they just give you title shot after title shot. Probably why he lost it almost immediately. One of the champs he won it from had a losing record, lol. Being a Bellator champ today is more impressive than being a UFC champ back then.

And he started MMA at 32. WHen you have to exxagerate, thats a sign youre probably in the wrong...
