That is a fallacy. You're basically saying no game can be considered a financial success unless it does COD numbers.

You're treating game quality and financial performance as separate metrics. They are not, they are heavily related.

They can be, but there is nothing pointing to that here. They imploded all at once, and their supposed mediocre titles, were still selling very well. They made poor business decisions, like the stupid pirate game they were basically forced to make, over some deal they made with a foreign country. Two big movie license flops(those rights don't come cheap). There was nothing to suggest AC was slowing down either. Quite the opposite. All this backlash towards the new one came from the notion that they were infusing woke politics into the game, which is pretty much a death blow for any game these days, since gamers have decided to boycott anything resembling something SBI consulted on.

That's why Ubisoft has had a weak trajectory for a decade.

No, I'm pointing out that there is a difference between iterative franchises that consistently perform and Far Cry. Again, the benchmark for Ubisoft is other publishers, not whether their games were in the black or not. Skull & Bones is only one of several failures that have accumulated in the past several years. I'm also curious as to why you haven't noted that S&B's is an old failure (entered preproduction in 2013) and that it was an AC spinoff that kept flopping during internal builds (so much for the AC franchise magic).

Mirage was also a so so financial performer. Again, no investor worth their salt in the past 10 years was going to invest in Ubisoft over the several other better performing publishers with better ideas for future revenue. You still haven't acknowledged how badly Ubisoft has performed in mobile and live service, even while you're talking about how great their IP is that failed in those two arenas.

wokeness had nothing to do with veilguard being trash. hell there's only one "woke" character the whole game. and basically the same character exists in baldur's gate 3, which has even more woke characters and it's one of the best and most successful games made in the last decade.

veilguard sucked because it fucking sucked. boring story, horrific dialogue, silly cartoonish graphics, repetitive gameplay and enemies, etc.

The industry needs a reset. In all my years, gaming was the most revolutionary medium that was constantly topping itself in innovation generation after generation. Then, about 10 years ago, they got into some trouble with #metoo and "toxic work environment" bullshit, overcorrected, and started hiring a bunch of leftist activist morons who don't know what they're doing, while at the same time pushing out talented people in an effort to become one big diverse utopia of bland dogshit.

Western developers used to be #1 in this industry and pushing the medium forward. Now they're watching countries who pay no mind to this nonsense, absolutely dwarf them in creativity. Gee, I wonder what the problem is...

When he pointed out my error I said sorry and took a step back.
