Every time Yan took down Sterling

the funny thing is... it's almost impossible to re-train a pure boxer to adapt to MMA, but Yan did. I am shocked nobody brought this up yet. Yan background is coming from Boxing. In my short memory he is the ONLY and The most successful boxer who transitioned into MMA by learning technics in wrestling, kicking and submission just what he needs to be successful.

Now that you mention that, I do remember reading that he's Master of Sport in boxing. Pretty incredible that he's in their ragdolling guys like they are little kids.

All that training in Dagestan really paid off for Yan. It's shocking how good his takedowns are for a boxer. He looked like the grappler fighting a boxer, not the other way around.

that’s what petr told aljo „your wrestling ain’t shit I don’t train to beat you I train to run through the division“
Yan trains with dagestanian sambo champions they morning dumps weigh more then Sterling lol

PeeYoder strait up was making Sterling look amateurish, until Yan made himself look like a rookie by landing that inexplicably illegal knee. Definitely one of the strangest fights I’ve ever seen.

I mean the mistake happened in the heat of the moment, and I don't have any previous reasons to believe he is a dirty fighter. The rules aren't uniform and the dude made a mistake. I thought the fight would be a no contest while watching live which I still believe should have been the outcome. I say at worse you strip Yan and NC the fight with no champion. Have them rematch, but I can't personally think of a justification for Aljo to be champ.

I'd be curious as to the opinions of anyone that thinks "You have to beat the champ to be the champ", but believes in this decision?
He is a 'dirty' fighter. The reason why he lost the first Magomed fight was due to a point being taken because of him throwing headbuts lol. Which is a dull rule.
But more so he is a vicious, merciless and unbeaten fighter.
He absolutely destroyed Faber and Aldo and toyed with Sterling.
Love the guy
Same with Figgy.
We've gotten 2 amazing champs instead of Cejudo.

Show me where aljo knocked somebody out lol that boy is pillow fisted as fuck and petr got a granite chin and the best defence so yeah stop dreaming
I believe it still counts as a KO when you get hit, don't go out immediately but are launched into the air and eventually go out due to high altitude asphyxiation. Maybe different athletic commissions define it differently? Either way I'm going with Nevada's ruling on this.

PeeYodels?

PJÖTR?

Yan did not look invincible to me at all. His TDD did stifle Aljo's primary attack. But Aljo was arguably ahead 2-1 going into the 4th, while implementing his BACKUP plan with his secondary skill set. Yan did not assert himself as dominant until after Aljo tired noticably. Not to discredit Yan at all, because he played a direct role in Aljo gassing. Both guys are going to have enough time to evaluate the first fight, and time to make the necessary adjustments. Should be a great fight in a talented division.

The thing is Yan learns extremely fast and well. His fight IQ is miles ahead
that guy could be a pro at boxing, muah thai, grappling, wrestling. MMA is perfect for him because he can use all his skills
True. The fact that he's acquired such a complete skillset at such a young age (and everything high level) indicates he's a fast learner and special athletic talent in every discipline. Scary to think he still has years to improve before he starts to slow down.

That composure is called SAMBO. You could definitely see Samboist signature in most of the non-boxing stints that he did: osoto-gari, ochi/ko-ochi-gari,etc

that shit is straight from Judo/Sambo playbook
The suplex in the first rattled him, Petr dropped him right on his hand.
What a beautiful Osotogari though. The same move which Zabit used to floor Cattar in Moscow.

Yan is training with dagestani sambo champs. Its weird tho that so many US trained wrestlers lack the ability to defend basic judo techniques.
Doesn't surprise me at all.

It might be the emphasis on more lower body take downs on collegiate style wrestling. (Don't get me wrong there are upper body specialists) but outside of greco roman I don't see a ton of top level wrestlers from the US doing a ton of throws/trips

Yeah i mean i know why traditionally this would be a problem for a collegiate wrestler, but when you transition to MMA and especially when you fight a russian or eastern european fighter, there is no way in my head that you dont learn basic defence to hip throws. The only ways to explain this would be that fighters and coaches are extremely ignorant and arrogant or there just isnt enough knowledge about Judo/Sambo in the States which i highly doubt.
