I agree with you on this, without a second thought. I don't see it as a friend's responsibility, per se, but it just seems natural given the strength and quality of my friendships. For the most part, these are guys I've known for 15+ years who I've been through thick and thin with. If they knew that I was being misled, lied to, and taken advantage of, I would expect them to tell me and I would do the same for them.

I do think that breaking the news would need to be handled with tact, respect, and honesty, of course. The friend might not take it in the best way, but at least you're giving him a chance.

Well the trust with your partner would be automatically destroyed once they have cheated on you so I don't think it should be expected from them.

I think we just have different views on the matter but personally, my friends being who they are, I would expect them to tell me.

i'm not saying that no one should give you advice, i'm just talking about the intricacies.

the reason for that is that most of the time, as far as relationships go, your friends will be biased. so if they want to tell you about something general, that's cool. but if it has to do with something they don't know 100% about, they might not give you the best advice because there's some things they're just not aware of (probably things you never told them).
