News ESPN offered Helwani a pay cut during contract negotiations

Ariel was right for turning down the 5% reduction if he can make more money elsewhere. He already has the following, he doesn't need ESPN for exposure.

Holy fuck imagine not happy making $475,000 instead of $500,000. Oh, the agony.

I don't think pay was the reason for leaving unless I skimmed too much to gather that but still. The "gotta get your money" line shouldn't apply to this level of income lol.

The "gotta get your money" line applies to all levels of income.

a pay cut?

Well, how else were they supposed to afford to pay for Akimoto's pay raise!?

Usually when I hear that train of thought I can't help but imagine the helplessness and pitifulness of the person saying it. Like they have to lie, cheat, and steal "just to get by". Ambition and capitalism has built the standards of society we have now but people bitching about how several million is unacceptable is pathetic.

Well if he has something better in the pipeline salary wise good for him..

But if he does NOT, making around 475 Grand to talk MMA for a living..

Sounds pretty sweet Ariel..
For some reason Ariel thinks hes needed in MMA and he should be paid handsomely for it. To be honest him and Goldberg can disappear into the Canadian Tundra together and call college hockey games for the rest of their lives. Airel has done nothing for fighters other than brown nose and get butt hurt when they dont like him. He had a platform to do more and was only focused in his own self interest. I can think of ten more guys or woman that would do better at his job. Ariel Knows Nothing

I really don't see the correlation between that "train of though" and lying, stealing, and killing to get money. That train of thought is strange to me. But to each their own, do you, and I won't judge you for it.

I think this pretty much sums up the opinion of 95% of the MMA community

But none of those people will act like reporters in the UFC Mob like atmosphere that exists.. Ariel especially in his early years acted like a reporter, and that is the key... Dana hates Ariel because he dared to NOT lob softballs to him.. He refused to toe the UFC line of BS and kiss Dana's ass..

Nobody that replaces Ariel will dare challenge the company on anything.. MMA Media basically consists of a hand picked interviewer being handed prepared questions by the UFC.. Dana must always control the narrative..

Journalists are parasites basically. They are a little bit more useful than ring girls and ring announcers but still they pretty much do nothing significant.

Ask questions to fighters and write their opinions somewhere. In that case even us should get paid for posting our wonderful and knowledgeable opinions here.

Yeh, not like they're a massive part of the media side of things that bring a fuck-ton of exposure or anything . . .

And no one is going to pay to read your opinions here because you don't push any traffic anywhere. They do. That is literally the only reason they get paid.

Lmao makes more than the fighters. Good riddance. What a clown world we live in. Where in the fight business, every one including the ring girls make more than the fighters. This piece of shit doesn't deserve half of it.

Don't even bother replying with smartass comments. I don't read dipshit msgs from people defending this weasel.

Ariel gave fighters the outlet to get their personalities out there. Say what you will about ariel but he is a very good interviewer

Honestly, for as long as i've watched the UFC while ariel has been there I've never thought there weren't more journalists that could just step in and do a better job.

He's an irritating guy to listen too, and an instigator. He's that kid at recess that would kick you in the back of the leg then cries fountains to the teacher when somebody retaliates. He was in the right place at the right time and has been riding a wave of in house politics to keep his goblin-like head above water ever since.

It's also a dream job for most people, working at the number 1 sports network in the world and being able to talk about your favorite sport. It's not some boring ass office job that's filled with stress that took years of University education to achieve.
