Media ESPN disrespects Dustin Poirier once again.

In 2017,

ESPN referred to Dustin as "Conor's Opponent."

To which dustin Replied.

Now again, Stephen A asks Conor Mcgregor, why is he fighting "that guy" that he knocked out in 2014 then proceed to move on to talk about Khabib.

Old thread from 3 years ago.

Well they disrespected Amanda Nunes in the first Ronda fight and didn't really pay any attention to her. Bottom line is Dustin just has to go out there and win on Saturday. If he wins he will have all the respect he needs. It all takes place in the ring.

ESPN doesnt care about MMA, they care about Conor...thats disrespectful AF how Stephen A. Smith talks about Poirier, the same could be ask to Khabib...why would Khabib fight a guy that he dominated and submitted? Yet doesnt stop him from discussing Khabib with Conor, Conor actually ends up hyping his rival on his own...

They referred to him as Conor's opponent three years after the fact. Not during the build up

And "that guy?" That's not how you build a ppv. Stephen A is saying you knock this guy out already, why fight him agin?

Stephen A imo is under the impression this works like boxing and that dustin is merely a tune up fight for mcgregor. Just to get him ready for khabib. He moved quickly off dustin.

We all know why Cunner picked Dustin..

He's ranked #2 and Gaethje is coming off a loss and also lost to Dustin.

Who should he have fought? Dustin is basically the top guy in the division who's been on an amazing run aside from the Khabib fight.

This is how the more rabid section of Conor fans operate on sherdog and on social media in general. They believe Conor deserves a rematch with khabib .."just because" but if you bring up all the other past opponents khabib has that suffered the same fate(being mauled) - It's "We don't want to see that again. He just got mauled 2 fights ago"

I get it somewhat. conor has the name. the spectacle would be mega bucks. But I do look at the people who argue the merit standpoint funny at pretty funny. they don't see the cognitive dissonance.

At least Dustin is 6 years removed from the bout and became a top contender. Dustin and conor aren't even 2 fights removed from their respective Khabib fights. This saturday, they'll have their second fight since facing khabib. If dustin wins, no one is going to ask for an khabib rematch based on merit.

ESPN folks dont know shit about MMA so it makes sense that they look like fools

The only thing Dustin needs to worry about is the fight. If he goes out there and beats Conor, he'll be cashing big paychecks from now on himself and people will know his name. Also, it will guarantee a 3rd fight with Conor, and, an even bigger paycheck accompanying that fight.

Well, I hope Poirier is right when he said he’s older and more mature and it’s all just noise and he none of it will get in his head this time.

Conor’s a star waddyagonnado.

And that’s what Stephen A does. That’s his schtick, across all sports he covers. If anything it just proves MMA has “made it”.
Hmmmm ,we are getting there it seems. But I'll know for sure when Stephen A. is covering things that have absolutely nothing to do with McGregor.

So far that seems to be all Smith cares about.

"Now this hurts me to say. Dustin Poirier is my dear, dear friend."

LOL at ESPN thinking anyone cares what that clown thinks about anything related to MMA. You could randomly pick a grandmother shopping at your local mall, and she would know more.

ESPN and all the other casual media outlets are cringe as fuck to watch when it comes to MMA. Calling them amateurs in regards to MMA knowledge would be a compliment. I have nothing against casual fans, but I do feel that these casual media outlets should do their research because it's embarrassing listening to how uneducated they are with MMA. Absolutely pathetic, and so much for unbias media.

The disrespect Dustin is getting is ridiculous. Stephen A Smith proved today just how stupid he is when it comes to MMA and he should be embarrassed at that pitiful interview he conducted.

I like now he says he never had “a good stint” at 155 like he had zero to do with that...like it was totally out of his hands.

Dustin is far too kind to get any real pub in American media. It's a shame. If he knocks Conor out it would be about Conor and not about him on ESPN.

this is low on the list of things to rage about stephen A......
Not raging. Just making discussion material. We pretty much know and accept stephen a or espn in general doesn't know a damn thing about the ufc or mma lol

Tony or Charles...

i think that's more the point though. this isn't some news story or promotional story. it's stephen a......it's only going to be as deep as his personal knowledge and agenda. i wouldn't attribute it to the broad "espn".
