Elon Musk launches Neuralink, a venture to merge the human brain with AI

I didn't want to rob that bank or rape that girl I was hacked ....

I'm interested in this technology

Do they need guinea pigs?

Elon Musk last week: AI bad for you.

Elon Musk this week: Let me merge my AI with your brain.

Ah OK Elon.

He probably didn't get the memo yet. In fact, him going public calling AI "summoning the demon" was possibility a ploy to get insider information.

Seems to have worked.

Why does Musk need to integrate bio brains with cyberspace?

I like to type and use fingerpad. It cannot possibly be that much more advantageous.

Instead why not work on a working Holodeck like Star Trek? That be even better than interfacing with cyberspace.

Not every Musk watches on the screen really needs to be invented. He just wants attention because his battery cars are not taking off.

Yea don't get me going this early in the morning, I'm trying to get ready for work. This is the next phase of the Transhumanism movement and it looks like technology makes this stuff a foregone conclusion. There are a growing number of really smart people who are convinced that within 50-100 years, humans as we know them now will be forever altered because we are going to merge with technology in various ways.

This will then create a divide between upper and lower class because obviously upper class people will have kids with better neural implants and at some point people who are not "altered" will not be able to compete with people who are so you are never getting the job over someone with the power of a supercomputer implanted in their head.

This is Musk's plan to help humanity become the Borg.
@DataBreach Is this the great deception?

Oh, youre already here. I really shouldcread top down.

It's certainly within the realm of possibility. Most knowledge and skills are products of neural pathways that have been developed. It may be theoretically possible to download and upload knowledge, skills, memories, etc. You may even be able to try them out to see if you like it. Ever wanted to go skydiving? You can download the memories of someone who has, experiencing all the sights, sounds, feelings, etc. that they felt. The possibilities seem almost endless.
You know porn will make a killing with this tech.

cool. I want to Sherdog from my brain.

Elon has merged with the tech and is already compromised.

Pre merge - "AI bad, summoning demon, ect.

AI merged - AI good, wire it into your brains

The entire progression of our technology feels like we are gaining powers too great for our own good. Similar to the ramifications of building nuclear bombs. It feels like you have been waiting on this for a long time because you have. We have been toying wit the idea of combining living organisms with machines for a long time, at least since the late 1960's. Fast forward to 1997 and Caltech creates the first Neurochip using 16 neurons.

The work is different than what Musk is doing but it shows you how nuts we are getting. Lets go back 14 years to 2003, check this out.

In 2003 a team led by Theodore Berger, at the University of Southern California, started work on a neurochip designed to function as an artificial or prosthetic hippocampus. The neurochip was designed to function in rat brains and was intended as a prototype for the eventual development of higher-brain prosthesis. The hippocampus was chosen because it is thought to be the most ordered and structured part of the brain and is the most studied area. Its function is to encode experiences for storage as long-term memories elsewhere in the brain.[105]

In 2004 Thomas DeMarse at the University of Florida used a culture of 25,000 neurons taken from a rat's brain to fly a F-22 fighter jet aircraft simulator.[106] After collection, the cortical neurons were cultured in a petri dish and rapidly began to reconnect themselves to form a living neural network. The cells were arranged over a grid of 60 electrodes and used to control the pitch and yaw functions of the simulator. The study's focus was on understanding how the human brain performs and learns computational tasks at a cellular level.

So if we could do that 15 years ago, what might the major corporations be working on right now behind closed doors? DARPA is probably over the top in the direction of robotics and super soldiers.

I thought the DARPA chief died of a heart attack that time.

I think AI may come sooner and change everything for the better or worse.

Also I think the intermediary stage is more interesting and quite imminent.

As time passes information is getting closer and closer to our brains, I used to go to the library, now it's in my hands. Soon it will be all over my vision and audioscape wherever I go. Everyone will know everything because of a pair of contacts and algorithms predicting what information is needed where.

Already we off load memory, pictures, saved files, etc.

We are already joined with technology, it is an extension of us but I fear his wish will not prevent the misappropriation of AI upon its development.

Hopefully it emerges from Google or something, not a military scheme.

I like the idea, but I would like to see genetic engineering come first.
Lets improve ourselves biologically first.

Musk has been saying this stuff for years. He believes that a neurological link between us and cyberspace is probably the best way to control AI. It's an interesting point.

It is ridiculous that a man with absurd amount of fucking genius is still roped in by a pussy scorpion woman. The power of the pussy.

At 1 million mark, escorts are the only secure way to roll else, moving to another country where women cannot get away with murder.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has claimed his Neuralink company has successfully implanted one of its wireless brain chips in a human.

The company's goal is to connect human brains to computers to help tackle complex neurological conditions.

A number of rival firms have already implanted similar devices.

Among the other companies to make similar advances in the field is the École Polytechnique Fédérale in Lausanne (EPFL), in Switzerland, which has successfully enabled a paralysed man to walk just by thinking.

That was achieved by putting electronic implants on his brain and spine which wirelessly communicate thoughts to his legs and feet.

There has been no independent verification of Mr Musk's claims, nor has Neuralink provided any information about the procedure he says has taken place.
