ellenberger - ronda would be competitive in male bantamweight division

I'm 160lbs, trained like a couple months years back. I would smash Ronda in under a minute. Any male mma fighter would kill her.

I'm sure Ronda could walk right through the punches and armbar Eduardo

Rory must have done more damage to his brain than we realized

The lower end guys, maybe.

You put her in with Barao, Faber, Cruz and the like she'll be humiliated.

NO, the lower end guys would destroy her in under a minute.

Can you see her going even 30 seconds against someone like Mizugaki?
He weighs the same as her, he doesn't have breast and ass weight, he's faster, he hits harder, and he is an all around more skilled fighter, by far. He'd catch her quickly, and just swarm her.

Ellenberger needs to STFU.

At some point, this should be put to the test. All the conjecture and strong feelings from both sides should make it so.

Any reasonably skilled dude in MMA, in her weight class would whip her ass.

Which just means that he is not exactly unbiased.

So are Shertards.

It's hilarious that so many reject out of hand that the best female fighter, and someone who has Olympic caliber judo, could beat some of the scrubbier guys at 135. Yes, male athletes of comparable size will be stronger than female athletes, but it's not like they're twice as strong or something insurmountable like that. Ronda has excellent grappling and by all accounts is strong for her size. Would she get outstruck by almost anyone? Sure, but she's working on her striking and if she grabs someone she has a good chance of using her superior technique.

what does that have to do with a man fighting a woman? STFU

"STFU"

Tremendous analysis. I bet you think you could beat Ronda, too, don't you? Lol.

Go and rewatch the McMann fight and you'll see how hilariously bad her striking is. She couldn't take any male fighter in the UFC down, in any weight class.

The US female soccer team, which are world champions and olympic gold medalists got beat 8-2 by the under 17 USMNT, which have far, far inferior standing in the sport. And soccer is obviously far less of a contact sport than MMA. If women and men could be even slightly competitive in sports, the divide wouldn't be as absolute as it is.

She does run through other female fighters like a male grappling-based BW would.

It's a losing situation for the male she fights. Is he supposed to come out throwing bombs to KO her? It took her 3 rounds to put away Tate but she is now beating men?

In national team training camp randori (judo sparring), guys smaller than her who had no chance of making the national team threw her around pretty easily.

There's a reason they have separate woman's divisions for men and women in combat sport. If someone like Rousey really had a chance against men, there'd be no need for separate divisions for women and men in judo, boxing, MMA, or any other combat sport.

And the people who'd complain (rightly I'd say) the most about combining men and women into a single division would be the women. Ellenberger is just being silly.

Shertards know better than the pro fighter who is ranked top 10 in his division and has trained with Ronda.

You could turn that around, and comment about pro fighter's thinking they know better than all the officials in every combat sport who created separate divisions for men and women. Seriously, if top level women can beat top level men, why have separate divisions for men and women?

The problem with what Ellenberger is saying is that he's basically proposing what a lot of people who are against women's sport want: combine the men's and women's divisions, because the top women can compete with the top men. It took years to create women's divisions in judo and wrestling in the Olympics (and actually there was no rule against women competing against men in Olympic judo or wrestling before that, they just didn't have a chance). What he says sounds like its supporting women, but its actually taking away their chances to compete at top levels in MMA.
