Crime El Salvador had a lower homicide rate than the US in 2023

They all moved to America.

THIS lol......I live in an area full of MS13. Good thing is they mainly just kill each other. But they just brought their murder culture with them.

El Salvador also locked up innocent people. The president declared martial law, suspended the constitution, and locked up people without due process.
I know that’s a wet dream for a lot of Republicans, but thankfully we have checks and balances so this sort of thing doesn’t happen here.
Yeah, "thankfully" our gang members are still running around offing over 21,000 people/year and dealing drugs that kill another 110,000/year.

How hard is it to get a concealed carry in the US? You can literally go around the corner and buy a semi auto rifle. You probably only need to send a a photo ID through the mail to get a license.
It seems like another case of black people being incapable of following basic laws(cannot get photo ID to vote, cannot pay the subway fare etc) and everybody else suffers because of it.
Nobody suffers because of the voter ID thing, its a made up issue by the GOP because they want to make it harder for Democrat constituencies to vote.

As for the gun thing, there are so many guns flooding into these communities that its just practically far easier to get one illegally. No one in the hood is buying a semi-auto rifle for self defense, you just get a cheap handgun from the guy you know who knows a guy who can get you the gun. Probably cheaper and with less wait.

How tf is rounding up gang members and rapists during peacetime remotely similar to WORLD WAR 2????
How can you tell they are gang member and rapists? isn't that what courts are for?

We were in an active war. I don't think we should have done it. But they have Nothing in common. Besides taking place in a jail
Yup, in the case of El Salvador they are actually catching a lot of criminals shown by how crime rate went down.

The Japanese case was just sheer racism and paranoia, they were all innocent.

It's still pretty damn cheap to get a legal gun in the US.
Now, it seems a lot of black males are convicted felons, a disproportionate number, so there is that.

There is that too but a lot of them have non-violent felonies so even among them its likely the case that most of them aren't the ones terrorizing the community. You only need a surprisingly small number of psychotic antisocial types to create an atmosphere of fear and insecurity in a community.

One thing that would help reduce homicide rates is increasing the clearance rate for violent crimes. When most Suburban Americans think of unsolved murders they think of crime mysteries committed by mastermind murderers where a beautiful dame is tragically killed but in reality its mostly gangbangers killing each other. The community doesn't cooperate due to lack of trust in police and fear of reprisal so many murders go unsolved. In some cities something like half of murders are unresolved.

Its a lot harder than just ruthlessly locking up anyone with a gun regardless of whether they had it for self defense or intended to use it in a crime but it would have the benefit of locking up a higher proportion of actually problematic antisocial types when compared to the wide net cast by Bukele.

It's like 80% in Latin America, also most drug dealers killing each other.
Still, it l wouldn't be bad to go after unregistered guns and people could just register them.

Yet nobody wants to move from the US to El Salvador.

Sooo...jailing criminals lowers crime rates? Tell me more.

Also, explain your self America.
America already has the largest jail population in the world. The problem isn't with locking up criminals, I'm all for that. When you lock up innocent people with the criminals it's kind if a big deal. Authoritarian governments do this shit all the time and history has generally looked back on it as being pretty fucked up.

Most people dont go "hey you know Germany and Russia locking up innocent people in concentration camps was a good thing." That is because even though there might be lower crime rates, it's a fucked up thing to do.

Jailing people is not enough. People have to be scared of going to jail, but they're not scared or not scared enough.

People have to fear the consequences of their actions.

I'll give you an example. Prisons are made up of the worst of society, but even inside, there are rules that almost everyone follows because they're scared of the consequences. They fear getting disciplined by other inmates than they are of going to jail.

The most globalist headline you will ever see

Circles directly back to this lol, watch last 5 seconds. Posted it in another thread, than this headline about El Salvador form one of the main publications in the world is just too funny, both in the same day

Imagine, “enforcing law”

Errr. It's the Democrats throwing protestors in the gulag for ten years.
