Educate me on PRIDE..

I've never been a huge fan of that fight.

in terms of sheer ridiculousness, it's very entertaining. two giant dudes, one a blond asian dude, the other a roided out mario wearing america pants, beating the shit out of each other non stop for 6 minutes.

fighters simply don't fight like that anymore, and probably never will again.

So many great fights and fighters. Good ole' days. I was more a UFC boy. However, I would suggest watching Strikeforce as well. Both orgs were pretty awesome.

Sometimes when I am bored I just browse youtube videos of fights I haven't seen and I don't know the winner.

Rampage Vs Wandy I, II and III
Fedor Vs Randleman
Fedor Vs Crocop
Crocop Vs Aleks emelienko
Wandy Vs Crocop
Hong Man Vs Fedor
etc.

And two of those didn't even take place in PRIDE

Get FightPass for a few months and watch it all...

Seriously. Watch whatever you can get your grubby hands on. It was pure magic, from the crazy openings with the screaming broad and pyrotechnics to the fights themselves. 10 minute opening rounds. No LNP or wall n stall. You can hear strikes landing because of the quiet crowds. I can go on and on. Just watch it all!

I kid, I kid.

Igor Vovchanchyn vs Mark Kerr I and II
Minotauro Nogueira vs Fedor Emelianenko
Sakuraba vs Royce Gracie
Sakuraba vs Renzo Gracie
Crocop vs Minotauro Nogeira
Rampage Jackson vs Wanderlei Silva I and II

Shogun's pride fights as well
Fedor vs Cro Cop
Overeem vs Nog
Hunt vs Cro Cop/Wand

was a fun japanese promotion that at the time had the best mma fighters in the world.
had superstars like:
sakuraba
wanderlei
big nog
cro cop
fedor
gomi
hendo
kawajiri
aoki

you can get all of the fights on dvd or watch them online. really fun stuff

If you like VIOLENCE... then watch this fellow named Igor Vovchanchyn.

His fight against Enson Inoue is the most brutal beating in MMA history, in my opinion. (Saku vs Arona in PrideFC is also pretty bad, as is Cheick Kongo vs Mustafa Al Turk in UFC)

Igor vs Gary Goodridge - best stanky leg dance in MMA, again, IMHO.

Igor Vovcanchyn vs. Francisco Bueno

Oleg Taktarov vs Gary Goodridge - brutal KO

Don Frye vs Takayama - this is a classic.

Wandy vs CroCop II - (warning, hard to watch if you are a Wandy fan)

both Shogun and Wandy put brutal beatings on Rampage

Here is my personal list of all Pride fights that I know for a fact were not corrupted by the Yakuza with fixed fights.

Must be a Chael fan.

The Sport of MMA was just so different back then... Including the UFC.

I actually got a pride tattoo when they closed. It was a sad day for me. I started training and competing with the dream of one day fighting in Pride. its all I wanted. I enjoyed the UFC but the dream was always PrideFC. I fought for 2 more years after pride was bought out but when i eventually retired i knew it was late. I fought for 7 years.

Pride just had the best rules.
The presentation made you feel like something special.
I was at some of the earlier UFC from that time period. It felt like a second class Wrestling show at a high school gym. It was just more rowdy and low class. I am personally low class so its not a knock. it just was what it was. I never missed a pride event from the time that i started watching them. The first Pride event I saw i wAs addicted. I instantly knew this was something i wanted out of life. I still follow the MMA as a hole. More so none UFC events.

Yeah you outted yourself as low class earlier in your post saying you got a pride tattoo.

Some truly great fights and cards, some fucking horrible stinkers, some worked bouts, some highly dubious freakshows, rules and decisions that were pretty much made up on the fly and Quadros accidentally letting slip the "live" commentary was recorded well after the card was recorded.

Lol at people ITT not thinking pride had lnp or boring fights.

It was a great promotion. But had many, many flaws.

Newton vs Pele Landi-Jons
Hendo vs Bustamante 2
Herring vs Erikson
Nog vs Kharitonov and Sapp
Hunt vs Nishijima and Wanderlei
Aoki vs Hansen 1
Chuck vs Rampage and Mezger
Saku vs Mezger

There are so many incredible, incredible fights. I suggest you get the PRIDE anthologies on dvd. They are bundles of five events and you can pretty much get every event in order.

Don Frye vs. Yoshihiro Takayama is a must. A MUST! It will blow your mind if you never seen it.

hard copies are archaic, isnt it a better idea to subscribe to the fight pass?

Probably most of the great ones have been mentioned but a very underrated fight was Thompson/Fujita, was a great fucking fight.
