Educate me on PRIDE..

pretty sure this is an ego thread. i doubt TS is going to actually watch what people post. all the threads saying, 'teach me about x' are ego threads.

TS's only other post in this thread was 'i've seen x fight, it was a good fight' No acknowledgement of any of the other fights, affirmation he will look at the fights people posted or appreciation for people taking the time to post. you guys are wasting your time 'educating' this guy lol

lol.

Just for you, I'll say the obvious then

Thank you all for the input and I'm gonna try to watch the full event like many of you have suggested or the separate fights if I can't..I won't be bored this summer

Overrated in terms of excitement in fights IMO, even so called teancious brawlers like Wand and Shogun had their fair share of really boring moments.

If anything, guys like Igor and Sergei were a bit more underrated in that regard. The one thing that PRIDE really had above any fight promotion out there is the entertainment/circus value. K-1 had way more exciting fights if you ask me about Japan.

Do the real homework and try to watch from 1 til the last one, in order. You will understand everything, you will see the light, you will love it and sometimes, hate it.
I love UFC, but wish Pride FC was around.

When Zuffa purchased Pride, I wish they would have kept the org. up and running in the far east, and left the UFC in the western hemisphere, instead of just taking in most of the top talent and cutting the rest.

Zuffa could have built up fighters/champions in both organizations, then had Mega PPVs with champion vs. champion, tournaments with fighters from both orgs., etc.... I think this would have increased the popularity/draw in foreign countries, and gave them something to continue building on. Zuffa could have dropped most of the lower-tier guys from Pride and kept all the up and comers/established fighters there, while filtering in new talent from over seas as well.

That was my wish anyway.....a Champion vs. Champion card featuring with the Main Event of Couture/Fedor would have been unbelievable in 2007.

They couldn't. The fella they sent over to run the office came home pretty quickly. It's pretty much accepted the yakuza ran him out of town.

Pride was pro-wrestling with mostly legit fights. Certainly how they booked fights, with top names getting nobodies to demolish.
