It always comes from people who have never set foot in the ring or cage - which unfortunately, thanks to MMA’s comparatively casual fanbase, is most MMA fans.
As far as single combat sports go, boxing is up there with the very most effective in a real life situation. It’s just brutally efficient. It’s treated by a large portion of casual MMA fans in a bizarre manner that seems to equate it with Kung Fu or some eastern martial art based loosely on dance choreography. Ironically, it’s literally the most opposite to that.
I actually thought alot of mma fans followed boxing first like I did and watch both. In reality alot of mma fans don't know shit about boxing and follow it casually. They parrott people like joe rogan and make out like they know about boxing themselves. I mean mma/mcgregor fans were calling floyd the goat of boxing just cause rogan did then they even said mcgregor nearly beat floyd lol. Complete lack of understanding of the sport I agree with you.
