Media Dwayne the rock johnson once thought about fighting in mma

Once thought about fighting despite the fact he didn't even commit to training martial arts a single day in his life, what a bullshit story. There are countless pro wrestlers that just did it anyway, there was nothing stopping him, he's talking about it like he would've been an actual career. Guy is such a fake.

Bullshit. There’s a reason he was a fake wrestler instead of a real fighter.
The douche is simply trying to get some cred by casuals he wants to watch his “Hammer” mockumentary.
I never disliked the Rock before he tried to tie his name to real fighters with the BMF title and his UFC shoes. Can’t stand that Hollywood sellout now.

I think its possible hes telling the truth considering hes talking about it being Pride and at that time in pro wrestling he was a bum who nobody cared about and nobody would have guessed would become a big star.

Would he have done well? probably not. Big guy and a solid athlete though but doesnt strike me as a fighter.

I still call bullshit. No amateur wrestling background, no striking background, not even any street fighting record to brag about. Had no name value at the time and would have likely lost to anyone notable at the time.
Like I said, there’s a reason he went into fake wrestling, stayed in fake wrestling his whole career, and never crossed over. It’s because at heart, he’s not a real fighter.

Honestly would probably have been better served by doing pro wrestling in Japan if his WWE career hadnt taken off, big muscley american who could be carried to decent matches, was enough for many others to be sucessful in New Japan.

Was Dwayne Johnson one of them?

No the thread is about him possibly doing it at one time.

You said he’s a fake wrestler and that’s why he didn’t fight for real. Meaning you have no perspective on the sport and how intertwined it always has been. . As there are dozens and dozens and many mma champions Who fake wrestled.
The youngest ufc hw champ fake wrestled. And still fake wrestles. And. Had his own wrestling promotion.

He is a fake wrestler and that’s why he didn’t fight for real. He’s not one of the people you’re referring to.
None of the people that you’re talking about were in the WWF/WWE so your point is invalid. They competed in Japan.
There are only a few fake wrestlers who crossed over to real fighting, most notably Brock Lesnar who was a high level Amateur wrestler, and CM punk who had zero real wrestling background.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did well, he had some good genes. The Blacks and Samoans are pretty good races for Mixed Martial Arts success and the Rock's got both.

Bobby Lashley

Quite a few wrestlers talked about wanting to do mma, but it was a bunch of lies. The Rock, Undertaker, and Kurt Angle just to name a few.

Outside of Ken and some others that did both. People forget about Sean O’Haire? Dude actually did this back in the day (left wrestling and fought in Japan) before MMA blew up. Alberto Del Rio did both simultaneously. I know some Japanese did this but these guys come to mind from the west. Brock, Lashley and Punk kind of did it after the UFC blew up. Those two were doing it before it got really popular (pre TUF).

You really think Bobby Lashley, Bautista, Ken Shamrock, or Dan Severn are more known than Punk by the average fan? Alberto Del Rio?

It’s ok, little buddy.
