Food & Drink Dutch food vs Irish food

Actual Irish food that we eat, not something from 100 years ago. Plus all the beef is grass fed, pasture raised and hormone free. Quality wise I'd put our produce against anywhere else and our dairy/butter above anywhere, none of that UHT or white butter crap.

I will take the Irish one. At least there some things there I could enjoy.

Btw the English gets the hate for their food but it's not the worst one. Finland is the worst cuisine in Europe and a top 5 worst worldwide probably

One that it was surprisingly good, meaning not that bad ,is Russia. But in general all these cold, sunless grey countries have bad food

Yeah, all the Nordic countries take the crown for the worst food.

Even Anthony Bourdain said that that fermented shark in Iceland was one of the few things he wouldn't eat again.

British Isles food is just regular plain/bad.

I'm not getting what is so relantable about British food or is it just sterotyping

Also ... you're from Waterford and didn't mention a Blaa.

That's because there only really 2 places left in town baking Blaas. Hickeys which I wont support because she's a bibe and Walsh's which only do 6 packss of soft, floury blaas, which are shite. Bring back proper crusty blaas and I'd recommend them.

farmers markets and some places in Dungraven have them. Also pretty sure the LIDL bakery has them.

Semi-related to the thread, but why the fuck 2 naval powers who basically had duopoly on the spice trade (India and Indonesian colonies) have such bland cuisine???

My house is out in the sticks, it'd take me an hour just to get there and back and blaas are best fresh like baguettes. Lidl/Aldi/Tesco only do soft Walshs 6 packs. Not that it matters, as I spend now most of my time at my Italian place anyway and a ciabatta is close enough to a crusty blaa and the pannaterria is 2 mins away.

I can't speak for the Dutch but in Irelands case, most traditional food was only what could be grown/raised locally. We may have been technically part of the UK during that period but Irish Penal Laws meant most of the population were reduced to tenant farmers. with over 40% of the population surviving on a daily diet of only boiled potatoes with maybe some buttermilk. It's kinda hard to produce culinary variety when you have to choose between eating well or surviving.

I've heard a lot of the Dutch food was designed around rationaning, practicality and good old fashioned Calvanism. Frikandels definetely give me that vibe like they were meant for quantity and storage, basically astronaut food. But that could only be part of it. They also nave these Mayonaise pie kind of things where it's basically mayonaise with something like a hard boiled egg on top. Work place food also tends to be just a container full of hard boiled eggs. I'm not sure what that's about. Thinking like a Dutch person they were probably told by law they had feed employees so they said ''Cheap and full of protein''

Two countries not renowned for their cooking.

Your plane has crashed and you have the choice of grabbing one of two food crates before paddling to a deserted island. One contains traditional Dutch food, the other contains traditional Irish food. Which do you go for? This does not include internationally recognised foods like chicken nuggets, hamburgers etc ... nor does it include common foods like the full english/irish breakfast. I am also ommiting some common shared foods. Also won't compare cheeses as unless you have tasted them it's impossible to know.

Irish menu

Dublin Coddle
Irish Coddle is a hodgpodge of left overs boiled at low heat into a stew. Inredients and cooking methods: it is a Dublin dish comprised of leftovers including onion, potatoes carrots, sausauge rashers.

Irish Stew. The main difference between a beef stew and an Irish stew is the broth and the choice of meat. Beef stew uses cubed pieces of beef, such as a stew meat or a chuck roast. Irish stew traditionally uses mutton or lamb and has a rich, thick beer based broth

Cottage Pie. An under layer of minced beef over layed with a potatoe crust on top.

Guinness Stew. Basically what happens when you're in the pub and imply to the locals that they have no unique cusines.''Hold that thought we'll be right back.''

Bacon and cabbage. I debated adding this but it is so obnoxiously Iriish I thought it could pass the bar.

Irish Bangers and Mash. Mostly associated with England but Ireland has its own variety ... and I needed something to square off against Stammpot.

Bitterballen. A sort of breaded paste. I would compare to something close to a gooey turkey stuffing.

Frikandel. It's a sausage but it's not a sausage. Yes ... it's that dry.

Kassasouffle. It's a breaded cheese that doesn't melt when cooked.

Stammpot. The Dutch equivelent of Bangers and Mash. When I try to make B and M in the Netherlands it by default becomes Stammpot. It is nice but if you are in and ''English'' resturaunt you will rarely get authentic Bangers as the sausages used are too different.

I've heard this about Irish food from friends that have visited; they were very impressed with the quality of ingredients over there.

Probably one of the stews since thats close to Caldo which us Mexican mafucukas be eatin.

Yeah, all the Nordic countries take the crown for the worst food.

British Isles food is just regular plain/bad.

Yeah the Norse and English (I'll say English as maybe the other British countries are better) are where all the white people food stereotypes come from that black people use "they don't season their food" type shit.

I've had everything on the Irish menu before so I gotta go with that.

Dutch food is shockingly bad. Of course there are a few decent dishes, and anything can be made to be delicious - I've had some pretty delicious and healthy stamppot.

However, a big missing piece of the puzzle is Dutch (well, Belgian, mainly, but close enough) beer, and cheese - I'm not sure why you excluded cheese, TS? Dutch Gouda, Edam, Limburger are all pretty distinct, in my opinion. ("de-stinkt" in the case of limburger). I don't know of any Irish cheese - I'm sure it exists, but I'm not familiar. The netherlands is one of the biggest cheese countries in the world, though, so it seems unfair to remove cheese.

anywho - Another aspect is Dutch baked goods and desserts. This is where the Dutch rally back after a brutal lopsided first round dinner course.

If you like cookies and shit, the Netherlands is fantastic.

Neither. Hard skip. Everything looks bland and meh.
I get why people think, and it's kind of true. It's just food, it's not a specific national cuisine that they own and the world has adopted. But it's not bland, most food taste good when it's cooked properly, regardless of what it is. You can cook a big pot of cabbage but as long as it is seasoned properly and cooked in a certain way it will taste delicious. It just looks like shit

Irish food is comfort food. The fact that they don't put shitty beans on the side of everything here is why they are superior to the English.
Don't forget the bland soggy fried mushrooms. Mushrooms are awesome but dam near every cafe serving a full cooked breakfast always fuck them up

The thing that pisses me off most about English food is fish and chips. Every single village city town housing estate etc in the entire country has its own fish and chip shop. Fuck every estate in each town/city etc has his own fish and chip shop. Buy guarantee you 99% of them cannot cook decent chips to save their fucking lives. Always big fat dirty greasy soggy limp fucktards of a filthy disabled potato shit fuck

AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON HOW THEY DON'T FUCKING SEASON MUSHY PEAS
