He's right that every fighter in the game today can thank Conor for making more money now than they would've if he never existed. He was the rising tide that lifted all boats in that respect. But he's also totally missing the boat here, Conor is reviled because he devolved into sub-human scum and a complete caricature of himself, which is ok because he's clearly speaking of Conor from a fanboy perspective. Also glibly throwing out the term hater has become such a cop out for what we've come to expect as a lack of class or morals from entertainers. A person isn't automatically a hater just because they're calling you a cunt. There's at least a 50/50 chance you're actually a cunt.

I liked Conor in the beginning but then he because a WWE style side show. He never defended his titles, just ran to the next thing for cash. Which is fine but you can't claim to be the best in a weight class when you don't fight in it or defend the title you won. Layer on top of that all the crap he pulled over the years outside of the cage, and bam people hate you and like seeing you lose. Greatest fighter ever, definitely not by a long shot. Greatest mouthpiece the UFC has ever had, yes that is true.

Dismissing valid opinions as "haters" is the ideology of a simpleton. MMA fighters are still horribly underpaid, UFC bonuses and basic rate has barely gone up. McGregor benefitted vastly financially but he's talking absolute bollocks acting like fighters in general are better paid - they haven't even kept up with the rate of inflation.

Not sure why I didn't make the connection before, but Conor was the male Ronda. Both brought many more eyes to the sport. Both were seemingly invincible until they were exposed. Both ushered in a new era. Both were insanely popular but strongly disliked by many as they had a real ugly streak.
