Dr Disrespect Banned From Twitch

I saw some of his comeback video. Was he always this creepy? Everything down to his cadence, his laughing, calling his viewings champs, etc. comes off like a bad joker impression
I don't watch gaming streamers, but I always felt like his persona was a joke and everyone was in on it. I don't think he was taken seriously as a personality.

But I know nothing of his actual content, so I can't speak to how informative or entertaining he was as a streamer.

He's been remonetized by Google:

Also his former game studio Midnight Society is shutting down:

Cant stop the two time

Feel bad for his family

He can go fuck himself

I know very little about this guy, but from the 5 mins I spent investigating he is an annoying :eek::eek::eek:.

I truly cannot wrap my head around why any person out of their teenage years would watch a twitch stream for entertainment.

Same, it's just so incredibly cringey and childish. But even relative to young people, I would consider it vapid, low-brow content. It's disturbing to see the ongoing infantilization across so many aspects of modern society. (yes, I know that sounds super preachy).

Twitch hasnt been a exclusive live game streaming website since 2017. Can watch live content from NFL games to NASA space launches.

So they just kill Deadrop?

WTF? 3 years of development for nothing? They're not going to sell off any of the code they developed to be used in another game? All of that labor...just poof? Up in smoke?

That's depressing.

Pretty sure sporting events get channels banned for DMCA.
Pretty sure he's referring to officially sanctioned simul-broadcasts to the platform that Amazon has done where they have the rights to show the game (i.e. Thursday Night Football, and some of the overseas games).

Also, there's a ton of sports broadcast on Twitch that aren't under licensing agreements. Most of the preliminary qualifier competitions around the world for 3 on 3 basketball leading up to the Olympics were broadcast on Twitch.

Kick bans people for streaming ufc events and I've seen twitch do likewise. Also happened with the Super Bowl.

But not surprising. That studio depended on this guy being the face of it. When they severed ties with him, it was over. It's like severing ties with Bruce Wayne on Wayne Enterprises...if Wayne Enterprises was a start up that was only notable because Bruce Wayne was the face of the company.

I suspect it's more that there isn't much there for other studios to buy and build on. It's a crowded genre and it was a fairly small team, so it's not like a publisher or studio would be buying a finished product guaranteed to get players to fork money over.

Nah. If the dude never ran into controversy, it'd be alive and well. The whole studio was bankrolled on that guy's name alone. Once they lost him, it was over. He's the only reason it ever got off the ground.
