Donald Trump risks China rift with Taiwan call

Yet, you've agreed that there will be absolutely no ramifications to this "stupid move". If China is so mad, I guess they'll do something right? No? Then who cares? It was a phone call. Not a declaration of war.

So why was it stupid again? Something about going against the status quo that you're so comfortable with...
LMAO, the ad hominems just never stop with you guys do they? Don't worry, I'm sure you can google what that means.

I'm not scared of Trump. I'm just willing to call a spade a spade, and Trump has repeatedly shown himself to be a fucking moron when it comes to foreign policy.

You don't know what China will do, neither do I, and obviously neither does Trump. To say, "hey, fuck em, maybe they'll retaliate in some way, maybe they won't, who gives a shit" is a stupid way of handling foreign policy any way you look at it.

Improving relations with Taiwan while making relations with China worse is not a good trade.

China will probably look at this and realize that Trump had no clue what he was doing. So they'll probably look at Trump as a buffoon, as many world leaders already do. If that's how you want our leader to appear, then I'm sure you're happy with this move.

I'm sure you'll say you don't give a fuck how they view our leader. That's cute and all...but having a respected leader when he goes into negotiations with these foreign powers would be a good thing for us.

Trump doesn't understand foreign diplomacy. And yet, I'm sure you and your ilk don't care. Ignorance is bliss I suppose, have fun calling people cucks and claiming eveyrone is terrified except for you.

Weird Trump keeps talking to these leaders were he has developments pending.

LOL, it's a good thing you're not in charge of anything of significance. No balls gets and rustled easily.
Hey genius, they DON'T respect us... that's the point. They screw us every which way at every turn. You know fuck all about the way China thinks. They respect STRENGTH and POWER not a pussy limpwristed pushover living in fear of "upsetting" them.

And you know this from...all your years of...or your sources saying they don't respect us...?

China needs us more than we need them. Yes, they respect us. Should the trade deals be changed? That can be discussed, and there are very good points to made that they should, obviously.

The fact that we could change the trade deals with them, and yet still have HUGE trade with them, shows that they respect us.

But when our leader doesn't even know what foreign policies are important to them...that's a good way to get them to lose respect for us.

But yeah, let's just ignore all that, right? Yay Trump! Way to stand up to China by not knowing about our stance on Taiwan....wait, what?

Argentina also. A building project that was postponed due to licensing was approved after their phone call. A call Ivanka was on the phone for.

Yeah, that's been covered already. It's in this thread and I'm not typing it all again.
Anything else? The word "keep" implies it is an ongoing thing.

Did or did not Obama sell Taiwan billions in arms?

You're losing it, man.

Dude isnt even elected yet and he is already using the office for personal gain.
Dear God! The horror. We all know the truth, the historical leader he is really like...

He did...and that's been something that's been going on since LONG before Obama. Hell, that's much less than was sent during other presidential terms.

Know what else has been going on long before Obama? Not recognizing Taiwan's government. There have been about a dozen links ITT explaining the fragile diplomatic triangle between the US, China, and Taiwan, you can read up there if you need to know more.

If only Trump had read up on it...but I guess that's expecting a bit much from him, right?

As i said before, Hitler at least loved Germany.
Yeah, Hitler did some fucked up things but anyone who read Mein Kampf knows he honestly believed Germany would be destroyed by communism if he didn't.

He was a WW1 vet, so it's easy to place blame in hindsight. If you look at it from his perspective it makes sense. And he did some amazing things, economically speaking. Was on the cover of Time.

Let's see how the fascist policies work. At the end of four years, we may end up in better shape than we were at the start. I expect that to be the case.

On the flip side, it turns out leftists may end up destroying Germany after all.

This is exactly the kind of thing I wanted from Trump. China needs to see that he won't allow old assumptions to dictate our current relationship. And lol that any American should be afraid of a "rift" with China. The only ones who should be fearing a rift are the Chinese. They are utterly reliant on trade with western economies. They cannot afford a rift and it's past time an American president demonstrated to the Chinese that he understands this fact

Again, anyone who actually thinks Trump knew the real ramifications of what he was doing is delusional. This type of thing is why Trump offered John Kasich control of all domestic and foreign policy if Kasich would run as his VP (when Kasich asked what Trump would actually do then, he was told "Trump will make America great again"). Because Trump is a great figurehead, who knows nothing about actual policy...especially foreign.

Fuck, the guy already tweeted saying "All I did was take a phone call". He wasn't making some huge geopolitical statement against China here.

He had no idea what he was doing, because he's woefully unprepared for the job.

But hey, that's why he won, right?

Source, please. Not saying I don't believe you, but I'm interested in the particulars of the conversation.
