Donald Trump Jr.'s Russia email scandal shakes the presidency, v4: Cover of TIME

We only learned this morning that there were people other than the lawyer, her translator, and the Trump B-team in meeting. You aren't keeping up on this, clearly.

And when did we learn about the meeting having anything to do with Hillary Clinton? It's not the first detail of the meeting that was kept secret, dude. Also, didn't Trump Jr already say they didn't meet with any Russians for purposes to undermine the Clinton team, and that the suggestion was "disgusting"?

This is why your new outrage doesn't make any sense to me.

Trump Jr. went on national television and directly lied about how was in the room. And then this made Trump a liar because Trump tweeted what Jr told him.

That doesn't make Trump a liar. Perhaps misinformed, but not a liar.

You aren't acting any better than the libs here. Instead of discussing the facts of the story, you are jumping straight to questioning my motives for posting it. Its no different than when I posted the Clinton thread and the usually low-IQ lib crew showed up with "why are you posting this? You scared? Deflecting". Trump Jr. lied to you, and he made the President lie to you. Why are you ok with them feeding you false information and then having to admit it was a lie, but not ok when CNN does it?

Because at the end of the day, the story is insignificant. It's Russia hysteria, and they're getting their lines crossed in a media shit storm. Meh.

Whatever though. I'll let Mueller handle this shit. I'm not about to get my panties in a wad over the little stuff.

@Madmick is a beast when he gets rolling. He's the juggernaut, bitch.

@Overpressure is in his finest hour. I've been legit lolling for an hour now. This thread should go on his resume.

@klnOmega is giving a good accounting of himself. He's handling his Ann Coulter moment with wit and aplomb. I don't know if he likes me, but i like him. Probably still going to argue with him, though.
I respect klnOmega for fighting the good fight, and rolling with the punches and good exchanges.
War Room sparring partner

But then to further this cover the lawyer should be fired. To say his lawyers were informed but didn't tell the President about this issue of his then campaign chair, son and son in law meeting with Russians under the understanding they would get official government dirt on Hillary - that is definitely fireable. To keep him around if that is the official story makes Trump seem okay with being left out of the loop - and even if that is the case, you can't reenforce that idea.
That will basically be the premise. Jr, Manafort & Kushner will have their heads roll if this turns out bigly. They won't be able to hold any positions in the WH that involves classified informations. This is bad for the US in general because Trump will be scrambling for a new set of people...more $$$ wasted by all this shit.

I'm gonna go rogue here and say that I can justify insulating The Man. You're on his team, you naturally want to protect. There's a lot to be gained by remaining loyal to the last. Impeachment is an enormous hurdle, with good reason.
And unless they can show Donald was made aware of all this, he's safe.
As should be

That wasn't an outright lie. That was a lie by omission.

Here though, he was asked who was in the room, and then after he gave a list, he was asked if that was everyone.

That doesn't make Trump a liar. Perhaps misinformed, but not a liar. And by their accounts (which now have no credibility), the Hillary topic was only a fleeting portion of the conversation. Yesterday, I had no reason to believe that wasn't true.

True, but that doesn't make it any better. He is misinformed because his kids are lying to him. And it kills his credibility. What happens next time CNN writes up some made up fakenews and publishes? Trump is going to post "#fakenews never happened"...do we believe him, or is their a chance he is "misinformed"?

It would have been insignificant if the Trump B-team didn't spill spaghetti all over the floor. That's what I'm mad about. Trump is under a big investigation for collusion with Russia. I'd like to believe he is innocent of that, and I haven't seen any evidence yet to the contrary. But he is making it really hard to stay in his corner when he lies about or omits contacts between his campaign and Russia. I'm with Gowdy on this: These guys need sit down with Mueller's team and make sure that every i is dotted and t is crossed.

Other than a few people, I don't think Impeachment is what congress wants...not even majority of Dems would really want this unless it directly implicates POTUS. It opens up pandoras box that politicians will not want in the future.

I love it. Trump said he never saw the email until "two days ago". They caught him in a lie. It was a month ago. After the scandal broke he tries to get out ahead of it and Tweets about just four people in the room. He left out the other two-- including a Russian spy. They insist it was a trivial meeting. But Trump Jr. first felt the need to lie he attended, then lie that it was about adoptions, then finally confess it about getting dirt from a lawyer he knew was affiliated with the Russian government-- only with The New York Times looming.

President Trump's son (Trump Jr.), step son (Kushner), and senior campaign manager at the time (Manafort) were all present. Yet he expects me to believe he didn't know about every person in that room?

Lest we forget, this is the same guy who:
  1. Almost certainly obstructed justice by demanding Comey drop this investigation-- and I think we all know now why, no need for Mueller-- before firing him when Comey refused
  2. Is the first President since Nixon started the tradition who refuses to release his tax returns
  3. Settled the Trump University felony fraud lawsuit for a staggering sum of $25 million (this a man who wouldn't relinquish a dime to a hobo if he thought it would tarnish his name the palest shade)
  4. Prior to that tried to form an improper friendship with the New York Attorney General overseeing that Trump U case, one of the most popular AG's in the country, Preet Bharara, whom demurred from Trump's advances, and then later fired Bharara without ever giving a reason
And I guess we still have some dopes who think a guy that promised not to golf or travel on our dime, but has golfed and spent on travel more in his first six months than Obama did in his first term, is somehow working for them; that a man who once bragged that "life was a bowl of cherries", the best time in his life, when he was cheating on his first wife Ivanka with Marla Maples, and that he wished that time had never ended, somehow has character.

This is a guy who just fled to France while the Senate health care bill is in the final stretch, btw. Quite the "fighter".

There's no personal character. There's no professional character. There's no character demonstrating respect for anything: not the office, not the law, not national security, not the American people.

Not to mention that at least some of the examples of "something" in there are completely made-up and batshit crazy.
And the made-up batshit crazy stuff still isn't as bad as the reality of Trump's corruption!

I like you. Your good people.
I like most everyone here on both sides. You guys have to realize when I call you slimball low-IQ disingenuous retards, its just because that's how people talk on the internet.

POLLAK: After Donald Trump Jr. Emails, Still No Evidence of Russia ‘Collusion’

[...]
The Merriam-Webster dictionary
defines “collusion” as “secret agreement or cooperation especially for an illegal or deceitful purpose.” There was no agreement, no cooperation, and neither the meeting nor its purpose was illegal.

The mere fact that Trump, Jr. was willing to meet with the lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya — who also worked with Democrats and a Democrat-linked opposition research firm, Fusion GPS — is being described as nefarious. But there is no evidence that Veselnitskaya was linked to the Kremlin — a charge that the mainstream media continues to repeat as established fact, despite her denials, a complete lack proof, and significant evidence to the contrary.

Personally I still believe that this is overhyped.

So you're accepting that Trump Jr's account is truthful?

I have a bridge to sell you...

There may have been no collusion, but the fact that Jr lied about the meeting is bad. And it makes the whole meeting suspicious now.

Investigator: There was a bank robbery last night, can you state your whereabouts yesterday evening
Trump Jr: Yes sir, I was at Patty's Bar all night.

Then the investigator goes to Patty's Bar and Patty says he hasn't seen Trump Jr in months. What do you make of that? Of course Trump Jr could be lying because he was actually cheating on his wife last night, or maybe selling drugs on a street corner, or maybe he was fapping to tranny porn, but you have to agree that lying about where he was is not a good look.

So you're accepting that Trump Jr's account is truthful?

No, I agree that it is bad that he lied.

But at the same time I still don't see collusion.
