the only thing i'm unclear on after all of this, is what would have happened if they would have convicted him on the 34 misdemeanors but didn't get him on the underlying crime?
i guess they would have had to throw the whole thing out due to the statute of limitations on the falsification misdemeanors. the only way they were able to pin those charges on him after all of this time is if he committed those acts while being involved in another crime.
i wonder what would have happened if they found him guilty of falsification but didn't hang him up on section 17-152. i'm not sure if they would have had to just drop the whole thing after that, or if those charges would have still stuck, despite him not being found to have also been involved in an underlying crime while committing those misdemeanors.
that's like the only thing i haven't had any clarification on, and nobody seems to be discussing. it was all talk of whether or not he gets found guilty or innocent or there was a hung jury, but nobody seems to be laying out what would happen if he gets found guilty of the misdemeanors but not found to have committed any elements of the underlying crime. i'm not 100% sure if they would have been able to convict him on the misdemeanors, even after a guilty verdict, simply because of the statute of limitations.
