philippines has the highest rate of dog to human rabies transmission in the whole world. i watch a documentary about the milwakee protocol and the problem in the philippines was part of the film. it was actuallty very sad as the victims die slow painful death.

Here's my thing; I love my dog, a vizsla. I couldn't imagine there are people that eat dogs. But my grandmother is a proud Hindu woman who can't fathom how we here in the US raise cows for slaughter since cows are revered animals in India.

Is it relative or is it really messed up to eat dogs ?

I think dogs are different than fish or chicken or cows; they are highly intelligent and capable of love. My dog is a member of my family, I love her and protect her. I think it's fair to see dogs as more than other animals.

Choosing which animals is more "suited" for eating from intelligent is fuking stupid. As @sub_thug mentioned, it's a culture thing. It might be unacceptable for most countries but don't go "shitting" on countries that does things differently from yours, not just on the cuisine aspect.

Taking weeds seems acceptable for most of you guys, at least what I noticed here in Mayberry, because it's not "hard drugs". Those that never tried weeds seems to be deemed "never had fun". Pretty sure it's not acceptable in most other countries. Never seen people making comments or threads on that as frequently as you guys deeming taboo.

But it's also funny how most comments itt seems to be from Asians, myself included.

FYI: I haven't eaten dogs.

My initial response was going to be I haven't seen anyone eat Dogs in Taiwan, until I read through the thread. I've been to Taiwan, island wide, for multiple times. Never really seen dogs meat for sale. I'm sure there are natives that possibly still eat them, but I'm sure there are minority that eat dog meat in the western world as well. So...boohoo..

Damn.. had to google the meaning of the word. I'm seen users in heavies and Mayberry, the latter mostly because I rarely go to heavies anymore, that disapprove of Cocaine users, Jon Jones scandal previously, but said it's okay to do weed. Or at least openly say they will be smoking joints after weekend drinks or something. Obviously it's not posted constantly but I definitely seen this mentioned multiple times which appears to me to be a norm.

Nah.. I'm sure I haven't eaten Dog meat. I have a decent enough palate to know I'm eating different meat despite the verse "everything taste like chicken". The more "exotic" meat I have tried, for Asian standard, is probably just bat, rabbit, insects. For westerners standard, the list will probably go too long. ^^

Many years ago my ex gf (she grew up in Vietnam and came here with her family as a child) told me she ate dog meat when she was young and it perturbed me somewhat. Truth is I simply hadn't given the matter the depth of thought required to put it in perspective. The fact of the matter is, there is no morally coherent difference between eating a dog or a cat and any of the animals we regard as food animals here in the west. Intelligence, personality, cuteness etc are all completely arbitrary factors and certainly not sound or just criteria for deciding which species of animal is more deserving of life than an another. They all have the right to live and they all have the right not to be treated as commodities. Exactly the same fundamental rights we would expect for ourselves.
