Does anyone here buy lottery scratch tickets?

I do it when buying cigarettes. They always have the sign up when it gets into the huge numbers.
I felt bad for 7/11 cashiers when it went into big numbers because you can't pay for them by card so knowing they were carrying lots of cash on the lottery night they'd get robbed at gunpoint.

I used to chip in at a lottery pool at work. Other than that no I don't live in a trailer park and smoke 2 packs a day.
I used to do a syndicate at work too. Guy was in charge of it, I think we gave hm a month's worth at a time and we had the same numbers every time. He forgot to put it on 2 weeks running and when he told us he'd forgotten couldn't understand why we wanted to wring his neck. If our numbers had come up in those two weeks we would have gone postal.

Last year one day I had some extra dollars to fuck off so I bought a huge $30 scratcher as a present to myself, won $1000 prize. Said fuckit, got my money and bought 2 more, each one hit for $100 and then I called it.

Normally I don’t and I won’t again, but that was fun. I figure that’s all my luck for those things.

I like to play the Bingo ones with my girl.

Lots of fun and anticipation, usually ending in frustration and disappointment.

You know, just like sex.

At six years old you say...

Okay.

He’s from one of those hellscapes in Eastern Europe.

They don’t play by our rules. Think about it. He “won” 40 cents. Probably costs more to print most of those tickets here.

I usually rob them at gunpoint after their shift

Nah. Somehow I grew up around degenerate carnies without picking up most of their bad habits.

I had a friend who won 10 million on a $30 scratcher. He got about half after taxes, and within 2 years he was broke.

Seriously! It boggles the mind. Even people who get smaller settlements etc manage to blow it all quickly.
I had an Indian coworker who won a million so probably 600k after taxes.. He quit and I saw him a few months later absolutely covered in cold chains and gold rings. A few months after that he was back working. I don't get it.

Worked with a guy at Best Buy that played New Orleans Saints. He fell into a sinkhole at a shopping center parking lot. He got a fat payout and deuced. About a year later, he came back. His Escalade got repossessed during a shift. Easy come, easy go.

They're fine as a little gift to somebody you don't really give a shit about.

My assistant bought like ten of them for me for Christmas. I haven't played them in years.

I must say, within moments, I was overcome with boredom. I didn't even finish scratching them I was so bored. Nevermind the fact that they're a tax on the stupid, they're just objectively not fun.

In addition to boredom, I was also overcome with a sense of embarrassment. I would frankly rather have someone walk in on me watching anime porn than be seen scratching these tickets. Probably the only thing more pathetic than these scratch lottery tickets are watching old people play slot machines in the casino.

I say all of the above as an avid sports gambler, who once bet $200 on a women's handball game.
if i am walking out of the store and have $1 bills in my pocket i throw them in there. its not like you can buy anything else these days with a $1 bill

I once got $20 worth in a work gift exchange once. It was pretty fun scratching them off, but in the end I had $4 worth of tickets. I've never really felt the urge to go redeem them at a liquor store or 7-11, but I'm also not one to throw away money so years later I have them in a drawer somewhere.

I used to buy em like a decade ago when they became legal in my state, and I made cash everyday. I had good luck with them for the longest time. Most I ever won was $1,200 off a $5 one. Then went on a unlucky streak and haven’t bothered buying them since.

I’ve met several people absolutely hooked on them though. Seen an acquaintance buy a whole roll one time with his paycheck. He didn’t even win half as much as he spent.
