Does anyone here buy lottery scratch tickets?

I use to think people who play lottery are just dumb people really bad at math, but I've come to understand how powerful/useful hope can be. And I think the rationality for people who keeps buying them is the feeling of hoping one day winning it big outweighs the negative EV from buying the tickets.

Occasionally might buy a few 5$ and 10$ tickets. Also play Mega & Powerball when the jackpot is huge (over 400M or so).

Also know someone who won 20M in Mega Millions.

No, but whenever I go to a birthday party, I buy one and throw it in with the gift - not my fault you're not lucky enough to win. I was gonna gift you millions!

I worked at a place that sold them when I was 17. Very few winners. And such small amounts the winner asked for the value in more cards. That didn't win

I stay away from them because whenever I look at the winners, they're 95% of the time around the same location. I'm not saying look into it.. but..

If you do I just want you to know I loathe people like you and your ilk who line up waiting for convenience stores to open so they can buy lottery tickets, fuck you degenerates, that is all.

I like scratch-offs that take time to do, like the bingo ones or the crossword ones. The crossword ones are my favorite, they are fun.

So, no, they are not objectively not fun.

Last year one day I had some extra dollars to fuck off so I bought a huge $30 scratcher as a present to myself, won $1000 prize. Said fuckit, got my money and bought 2 more, each one hit for $100 and then I called it.

Normally I don’t and I won’t again, but that was fun. I figure that’s all my luck for those things.

$30 for 1 scratch ticket?
That just like the casino's where no one wins anything unless they start paying large sums of money.

Oh for sure but they are the only ones that have a 1 Million pay out. And their payout was like 1 of every 3.2 tickets. Figured I could have bought a couple 5 dollar ones but I was throwing away my money anyways might as well take a big swing.

My assistant bought like ten of them for me for Christmas. I haven't played them in years.

I must say, within moments, I was overcome with boredom. I didn't even finish scratching them I was so bored. Nevermind the fact that they're a tax on the stupid, they're just objectively not fun.

In addition to boredom, I was also overcome with a sense of embarrassment. I would frankly rather have someone walk in on me watching anime porn than be seen scratching these tickets. Probably the only thing more pathetic than these scratch lottery tickets are watching old people play slot machines in the casino.

I say all of the above as an avid sports gambler, who once bet $200 on a women's handball game.
Team handball or blue ball against the wall in the park?

I buy one $10 scratcher a week. If it wins I buy more with the winnings. Anything over a $20 win I pocket half of the winnings. I've won a couple of $200 winners and a few $50 winners. I basically have a $40 a month budget for scratchers.

My dad does. I think lotto is a waste of money

Every once and a while when the odds are substantually in the favor of the buyer, like buying a 1$ ticket for the a 1:1million chance to win 10 million.

I saw a woman win £500 in a shop once. The shop owner couldn't believe it, he said she won 10k on another scratch card a few months before.
