Do bjj black belts dominate brown belts so easily or is his belt suspect?

TBH, he was made to look like a blue belt...

I have heard that he's a high purple level/low brown level.

But black belt is basically double the experience of a brown belt

He defended well in the 1st round when he wasn't hurt.

But I still don't think he's a legit brown belt, but he still didn't look as bad on his back as Weidman did against Rockhold, but I've seen plenty of people call him a bjj prodigy.

So we're not going to talk about the fact that Conor was exhausted and basically out on his feet before being subbed? He did fine in round one on the ground even sweeping Diaz, which a BJJ blue belt could never do

It's blue then purple. Unless they completely skip purple in Ireland.

Don't get it twisted, Conor is a legit brown belt. He just went up against a really good black belt. A black belt under the purest form of jiu jitsu through lineage

Look what happened to weidman, as soon as he got taken the ground against luke. Mounted and pounded out within seconds and hes supposed to be a mat wizard.

Well did Conor not say he wanted to expose Nate on the ground?
I know one thing... Conors ground game is not as good as he thought it was.

He is a legit Brown belt his bjj just isn't battle tested. Big difference in grappling in the gym and grappling in a fight.

he also held the fence to avoid nate sweeping or getting under him.

Well... Weidman IS a wizard on the mats. Its been proven in competitions.
There has never been any real proof of McG having a ground game.

Yeah brown belt. But Nate has been a black belt for ages and is a great one at that. He's been training with Kron too. Kron>Gunni.

Maybe he should sign up for Nate's sunday kids class.

good point but I hope it's not one of those belts you get with your "happy meal" that chael spoke of.

His coach isn't even a legit black belt, so any belts his coach hands out aren't legit to begin with.

That said, even if he was a legit brown belt, there can be a WIDE variance in skill for a brown belt. Conor didn't display blue belt ability. I have a brown belt. 4 days a week on average, I am in the gym rolling. I received my brown belt about 5 months ago... after 8 years. Either Conor has literally zero fucking heart or desire whatsoever to stay in that fight, or his brown belt is a white belt that needs to be washed badly. Fuck, if a white belt had a belt dirty enough that it looked brown, that white belt could have at least defending that choke... or tried.

As for sweeping Diaz... Diaz wasn't swept. Diaz flipped over into his guard, where he has nastier sub options. At least, that's where I'd feel more comfortable... especially against a dude with a suspect ground game.

Being hit in the head can effect your skills.

seconds? Weidman took a long beating and never once gave up - kept trying. Conor took 1-2 shot shots and gave up his back and neck then tapped soon after.

Nate does this to other black belts too so nothing new here, besides when you get rocked your BJJ goes out the window. Some of Nate's best finishes like Gomi and Miller are hurt them on the feet, panic double leg then sub.

i can't stand conor and am really glad he got trashed, but his coaches are legit. except for the touch butt pony tail guy, obviously. kavanagh is a really good grappler, and gunnar nelson is a fucking monster on the mat.

conor looked like shit on the ground because he was already broken standing and had a very skilled black belt on top of him. the problem here is that a high level black belt ground game is now almost the standard when it comes to top fighters. RDA's jiu jitsu is even better. weidman and rockhold are both ridiculously good. a legit brown belt stands no chance against those monsters.
