International Do you think Canada will be downgraded to a second world country?

Canada is ranked 10/11 most free countries in world while the United States is ranked 27/28 so which country shows more promise maintaining actual more civil conduct for its citizens ?

And that’s before the abysmal Trump administration started this illegal ICE rogue unit , resetting the retirement age , attacking senior citizens ability to renew driver’s licenses and making extremely difficult to travel here or re enter this country so it’s probably moved to 30 among a list of hidden stuff that chips away at more rights that the dumb Maga cult applauds .

I was in Alberta around 15+ years ago and people I talked to there were already upset about immigrants and the benefits they were given, lol.

I think it's a troll post being downgraded to 2nd world LOL. But Canada under Trudeau kind of became a scam country as best as I can tell.

How it works:
1) don't build affordable housing
2) massive immigration to further drive up costs
3) have no work/life balance and have to pay crazy rent or crazy mortgage
4) huge inflation of grocery and utility prices as well, so you have no money left over after expenses paid
5) live unfulfilling life with no sense of community for 50 years til your mortgage is paid / you die

Basically moving to Canada, or growing up in Canada too I suppose, is entering into a lifelong contract of debt unless you are making huge cash / have family support.

This is the home price index of Canada vs. peer countries. Absolutely ridiculous how there isn't enough housing. It's not like there is super low unemployment or anything.

Here's an article about people from Delhi India (it's a pretty shitty place) who went to Canada and view it as a scam and implore people to stay in Delhi LOL.

I have family that moved to Canada and they aren’t coming back here probably ever ,all that sounds like a bunch of b.s to me in fact much of what you listed sounds exact what’s going on here now , you used housing as an example ut the United States as a whole is more expensive to maintain a comfortable lifestyle then Canada and immigrants won’t be hunted down by its own law enforcement just cause which will be a game changer under Trump .

Canada is some of the most attractive real estate in the world. The world is changing due to climate change and studies point to Canada as being the best positioned area in North America.

Take a look at property values in Canada, I know they are very high. I'm guessing there are tons of foreign buyers hedging their bets on the climate and warmer temperatures.
To be fair, widespread foreign land and property ownership is a third world staple.

Alot of those problems are specific to Canada , they are problems everywhere.

Where do you live that's so shitty ?

I live in Victoria, I know people from all over the country and that vast majority of people are pretty happy and doing well , the happiness rankings for what they're worth reflect this .

No.

Canada drops to 18th in 2025 World Happiness Report rank, among the 'largest losers'

Canada slipped to 18th place from 15th last year. In 2015, Canada had placed 5th

(Bonus question: What happened in Canada in 2015?)

In addition to my snarky comments above I would like to distance myself from the anti-immigration crowd. I do understand that our immigration rates have definitely put pressure on the housing market over the past decade or so, but other than that, immigration has been a cultural and economic boon to Canada.

We have some of the very worst brain drain (and talent drain) issues in the world. If you are the best heart surgeon in Canada, you better believe you aren't staying in Canada long. Want to argue that point? We can't even win a Stanley Cup. Let that sink in. Our best and brightest can't get across that southern border fast enough.

So everyone can just screw off about all of the Indians and other immigrants moving into the country. Good luck maintaining a modern economy without them.

Why do we need a majority Indian immigrant population ? Why do we need hundreds of thousands who don't work ? Why do we need to add more temporary foreign worker jobs than we do jobs for citizens ? Why do we offer wage subsidies to foreigners ? Why do we bring in so many low skill workers when we have a high unemployment rate? Why are we giving Indians lighter sentences in crimes than Canadians to avoid affecting their immigration status ? Why are we bringing in more than we have housing for ? Why are we bringing them even if they have criminal records ? Why should Canadians put up with a declining standard of living for Indians when they are coming from a richer country than ours ? Just because they live under an oppressive caste system that they wanted doesn't mean we should have to take their undesirables. Why is that as a nation of diversity our immigration system has become anything but diverse in its preferential treatment towards Indians ? Why are we allowing new immigrants to automatically bring their parents and grandparents into Canada as citizens, people who in their old age are nothing but a drain on our medical system ?

So what I'm getting at... Is that we have too many Indians.
