I'm thinking getting some today after 4 months I believe. Craving for it for some reason.

I prefer getting halibut.

Yes, halibut is great. Needs lime wedges and a good tartar sauce. Most importantly the coleslaw has to be great. Fish and chips and tartar are all heavy so the lemon juice and slaw gives it a nice balance.

Yes I do. Now you got me craving it. Tomorrow is Friday fish fry so now my dinner is set for tomorrow. May need to make a thread to see what is tonights dinner for me.

It depends. In America they use too much tartar sauce and flesh of the fish isn't as meaty/flakey. They don't have the mushy peas, the vinegar or the gravy on the side. I think you at least need that. I can do without the pickled eggs and fried oreos found in chip shops.

Very popular dish in the UK. Is it popular in the states?
Meh, not so much. I like it though. We used to have a chain of eateries here called Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips that was pretty decent. But then they switched from cod to pollock and they went downhill from there and they went from hundreds of stores to I think none now. Maybe one or two around.

I think there is only one spot left in Ohio? There used to be one at the mall near me but they were also Nathan's hot dogs. I think it doesn't exist anymore. I honestly haven't been in the mall for over ten years.

I voted no, but not because I dislike fish and chips. The reason is, because it’s not something I eat all that often to say yes. It also depends on the restaurant and what type of fish they are using. But mostly, because if I want Seafood, I go to out and order things other than fish and chips. Clams, lobster, crab, scallops all make the roster before some over fried whitefish.

True. There are a couple of Arthur Treacher's franchises near me that are part of Salvatore's pizza. It's not a stand alone store though. From Wikipedia:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Treacher's#Last_remaining_stand-alone_location
Last remaining attached franchise locations
In addition to the last remaining stand-alone Arthur Treacher's restaurant in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, several Salvatore's Pizzerias in Rochester NY have attached Arthur Treacher's franchises still in operation.[19] The Twin Oaks Convenience Store at 34099 State Rt. 7 in Pomeroy, Ohio also maintains an attached Arthur Treacher's franchise location, sharing kitchen space with a Hunt Brothers Pizza and a Sub Express

yes please with tartar sauce, cholula/tapatio and black vinegar or Tabasco

it's good in a tortilla with a spritz of lime and Chile too

green mushy peas are alright

but some beans with cheese is better
