+1 cauliflower ear scares me more than tats...

Tats don't intimidate me... people are just people... sure, maybe tattoo guy has some pain tolerance, but everyone knows people in their classes who are hard to tap from certain positions or just have a lot of pain tolerance generally... There is a brown belt at my gym who is all tatted up and he is very good, but he is not an intimidating person--he is really nice and helpful to work with. Sure he could toss me around like a ragdoll but he's not scary, knowwhatImean?

If you do not come from a culture that embraces tattoos then he can be intimitading as well as meeting an instructor that has heap of tattoos for the first time.

No I never get intimated by tats.. to me they just had some extra money and a little extra time to get those..nothing to do with the way they fight or grapple..

Old men with long hair and full beard + the worn out gi and the belt that looks like a 300 year old artifact, they are the scary ones.

No, but I think that just comes from years of experience of meeting tough and not so tough people both with and without tattoos. That and I have tattoos. I'm pretty sure that as much as I wanted them to when I was 19, they didn't wind up making me any tougher.

Our pro fighters intimidate me. They are all way cool guys but just knowing they put it all on the line for little money and do very well is intimidating to me. I have worked in tat shops for a while and most guys covered are not very useful in a fight.

Nope, just makes me want to beat them up even more.. "So... this guy thinks he's tough huh?" haha. I learned a long time ago in wrestling that the lankiest, dorkiest looking guys always seem to be the guys mopping the mat with my face. You can't even judge someone by their cauliflower... I know one guy who got the meanest case of cauliflower just by wrestling for half a season and losing all his matches.

Just Google Felony Fights on YouTube to see lots of badass lookin motherfuckers who can't fight for shit.

I regularly go against someone who is in a cult that worships the devil, his exact words, and at first HELL YES! but now that I know the guy nah

In my current gym on average the least intimidating guys are the most dangerous. Deff not the guys with tats.

When I go to a fight I usually bet against the tan/buff/tatted guy because chances are they spent more time in the tanning booth and the weight room than practicing technique.

Having a muscular frame obviously I know this isn't true but... I do seem to see a trend.

Tattoos aren't very impressive to me, but there is one thing that gets me pumped up.

I will do everything in my power never to embarrass myself by losing to someone with a mohawk in a tournament.

i find big forearms and a tradies body (usually barrel chested with big shoulders and no neck) the kind of guys who are concretors or carpenters or what ever who use their strength all day every day lugging tools, timber, concrete, bricks for 12 hours sure arnt gonna blow a grip out in 2 mins on the mats

Nope. The first guy I ever extensively rolled with was tattooed up. Even had mens and womens bathroom signs behind his ears.

i have all sorts of tattoos on my body, left arm is all sleeved up and my right arm is almost completely sleeved up. but, they would be covered with a gi and rashguard so i don't really see how my tattoos would intimidate anyone.
