Do you consider modern LHWs bigger men than the Pride big 3 HWs?

Do you consider the modern top LHWs - other than DC - larger men than the old Pride heavies with their greater average height and similar weight, or do you still think of the Pride guys as bigger due to being, well, heavies?

If you consider that FWs can cut 20lbs to make weight, LHW could probably do more. Jones is probably only a few pounds lighter than Werdum or Cain come fight night but he has a height and huge reach advantage. Considering that he will never fight them, it really feels like he's just ducking HWs at this point.

i think lhws at the time were pretty much the same size though? the weird body of jones aside, i think many of the 2000's lhws walked around at 225 or so, which indeed did make them heavier than say owg cro-cop

Yup. People forget Overeem used to be a LHW when those guys listed in TS's post were fighting at HW.. Liddel and Tito, both, could have fought at HW in the UFC. Couture did while giving up a ton of size.

The average size of all weight classes has increased, fighters just cut a lot more weight than they used to. Although with the iv ban, we are starting to see fighters moving back up in weight.

I'd say Rockhold is a similar size to Mirko. It would explain some of why HW is so weak these days-the guys that would have fought there at its peak would be LHWs/MWs today. True in shape 240lb+ guys with the cardio to go 25 minutes and the ability to pass regular drugs tests are a rare thing
