Do You Consider Benson 'Smooth' Henderson Boring or Not?

I personally dont find him exciting to watch. He just doesn't finish fights

No why cuz he's well rounded?
No 99% of people who say 'bad decisions' really don't sound too sure he lost
And no cuz otherwise people wouldn't complain about 5 round wars
He's not Benson'laynpray'henderson
He's not Benson'the contender'henderson
He's a former defending champion and rightfully so,just needs to cut his hair

He's had some great fights! If he didn't beat fans' favourite fighters by close margins he wouldn't get half the hate or accusations of being boring. If he wasn't openly talking about his beliefs the hate would be halved again....

He is bloody lucky with those judges, though!

If he can dominate the wrestling, he's exciting as fuck. If he can't, boring as fuck.

Yea, been lurker for years because couldn't register for whatever reason. Maybe not baffeled but it was certainly odd how many people thought it was a boring fight. I guess the thin people are bored with here is the close dec with Bendo. I don't personally even care about close or bad decisision if the fight's been good. Yea it can suck if a fighter loses a shot at the title because of that but I don't think the matchmaking in the UFC is that serious. I mean look at the case of a legendery warrior Sexyama who almost lost his way to titleshot getting tougher and tougher opponents along the way.

lol why stop there?

Chael/Jones, Diaz/GSP, and most recently Tate/Rousey.

Losing a close contender's fight hardly derails title runs. The UFC's been like that since the Handy days.

Shit, let's not forget Pettis/Bendo 2 was actually supposed to be Grant/Bendo.

No. I always enjoy his fights.

And I don't always root for him either, he's one of those fighters that I'll pick against from time to time as well as root for

I used to not like him much because of his lack or striking technique. But he's recently started doing stuff like this, which is fucking awesome.

He didn't used to be, but he has become much more cautious and does way less fun stuff.

He has pulled a GSP in my opinion. Used to be thrilling, so it's disappointing that he's not anymore, but he's certainly not boring. Going from thrilling to boring is pulling a Guida, and he hasn't done that.

I don't think it's really a change in him, either. He has a bit of a dull striking style, and his recent opponents have mostly been top-flight wrestlers.

People who complain about how lucky he is with judges simply do not know how to score a fight. The only decision that can be considered questionable was the second Frankie Edgar fight, and that was after steamrolling Edgar 4 rounds to 1 in their previous fight.

He clearly beat Diaz, Melendez, and Thomson. He just did so narrowly against Melendez and Thomson. Still obvious wins though, I mean seriously what the fuck did either of those guys do to beat him? Because they certainly didn't outstrike, outpace, outwork, or control him.

He's not boring at all. Stupid wanna be mma fans.

lol because someone disagrees with you they are wannabe MMA fans.

Too funny. Hopefully, for sake of ever taking you seriously again, I hope you're being sarcastic, otherwise you can't really be an MMA fan.

I voted Yes, He hasn't finished anyone in his past 10 fights and while some of those fights were exciting in spite of that fact, a few them qualified to me as very boring.

If he just fought with more of a sense of urgency like he did in the WEC, he would be much more exciting and quite frankly better.

He is very boring. If he can't cause scrambles, or overwhelm his opponent in the clinch with his massive size advantage over most of the division. It has nothing to do with him finishing or not he is just boring to watch these days.

No.

I thought Edgar beat him the second time, and am just not a fan of him at all. Can't stand him really.

But he's an excellent fighter who usually puts on solid performances.

I don't consider him boring. I think that he won both fights against Edgar. However, I do think that Melendez should've been declared as the winner during their fight.

A little. He doesn't seem to try hard to put his opponents away as much anymore.

The boring thing isn't what bothers me though. It's the lack of really seemed focused on finishing. He says he just wants the W and is unapologetic about the decisions. Decisions are lesser victories. I don't believe they happen because the fighters are a higher level really because other high level fighters who are known for finishing still do so frequently. That's my biggest criticism of him. Constant close/controversial decisions are bad for the sport and the retarded judges and silly scoring system doesn't help. Plus, the primary physical focus of all martial arts is finishing opponents and moving away from that is an unnecessary distortion of it. That really shouldn't even be up for debate.

I like exciting fights as much as the next guy but I would much prefer a fighter who was boring but still finishing most of his opponents over a guy who was an exciting point fighter who never does. If I wanted to see exciting pointfighting I'd watch a point karate match. The occasional decision is fine. Having your last 8 victories come via decision, and 3 of those by a split? I'll never support a fighter that's doing that, especially one who's ok with it.

I don't see how any person who's watched his fights can call them boring. It's constant action with lots of back and forth.

Personally I think people are either conflating the fact he ends up with lots of close decisions to being boring or simply not liking him as a person. Mostly it's the latter with people feeling the need to justify their dislike by claiming he is somehow boring.
