Do You Consider Benson 'Smooth' Henderson Boring or Not?

No. He isn't exciting either.

I still watch his fights.

People forget that bendo was the aggressor against thomson

No way. The man has incredibly entertaining fights. The only problem is that those fights are razor thin decisions that have gone the wrong way on a few occasions.

He's had ONE bad decision in his entire UFC run. The rest of his "controversial" wins were just close fights that he won fair and square but had many people rooting against him.

People who complain about how lucky he is with judges simply do not know how to score a fight. The only decision that can be considered questionable was the second Frankie Edgar fight, and that was after steamrolling Edgar 4 rounds to 1 in their previous fight.

He clearly beat Diaz, Melendez, and Thomson. He just did so narrowly against Melendez and Thomson. Still obvious wins though, I mean seriously what the fuck did either of those guys do to beat him? Because they certainly didn't outstrike, outpace, outwork, or control him.

how did he 'clearly' beat gil and thomson???? lol . gil got robbed. there was nothing clear about the thomson fight, and frankie beat him 2x

I'm not going to a MMA Hipster... the guy is boring. I wish he wasn't but he is. I gave him a fair number of fights and felt it was just a bad fight here, or a bad run there... but now it's pretty clear he's just interested in not losing. He's not big on trying to win. That makes for a boring fighter.

Ever since he came to the UFC, his fights have gotten more boring over the years.

His only highlight was getting super kicked by Pettis (showtime kick).

His real name is Benson "Boring" Henderson.

No. But he definitely is a contender killer & makes the division kinda boring.

White I wouldn't mind seeing him finishing a fight or two once in a while, I definitely don't consider him boring.

His first fight against Donald Cerrone was one of the best displays of Mixed Martial Arts and won the Fight of the Year award. His second fight against Cerrone was a dominant performance in which he submitted him in about 2 minutes into the very 1st round.

His first fight against Anthony Pettis was also another one of the best displays of Mixed Martial Arts, meaning it was a great demonstration of all aspects in the sport. A true back-and-forth war between two top lightweights.

His fight against Mark Bocek was a beating. His fight against Jim Miller was a beating. His fight against Clay Guida was an absolute war. His first fight against Frankie Edgar was very technical and very entertaining, both fighters showed tons of heart and they fought their asses off. His second fight against Edgar, although I believe Edgar won that fight, was another technical and very entertaining fight.

His fight against Nate Diaz was a beating. His fight against Gilbert Melendez was another technical, yet entertaining fight. His fight against Thomson was also a technical battle, I found it quite entertaining but if there's any Benson fight in the UFC that could be called a little boring it would be that one.

We all have our own opinion, but I personally think Benson is very fun to watch. He fights intelligently, he doesn't do anything stupid when he gets in there. What's he supposed to do? run at his opponent and brawl it out like a mad man? this guy is one of the very best lightweights in the world and he's trying to get the title back and he's making damn sure that he wins the fight so he can have a successful career, what's there to hate about that?

I'm not a very big fan of Benson, but I do find him quite entertaining to watch. He always brings it, he hasn't finished any of his fights in the UFC but look at the guys that he is fighting.. he's fighting guys that are known to be very tough to finish, let alone get a victory over.

I think people say he's boring simply because he has some very close calls against quite a few of his opponents. You can make a case in each of those fights (Edgar, Melendez, Thomson) but they were great fights. It's not like he's taking guys down and just trying to control them. He's always working, he's always trying to beat you up.

He fought pretty aggressively against Thomson. He threw a lot more power in his strikes than he usually does, check those head kicks he was throwing all night, those hooks to the body, those knees to the body, etc. To me it looked like Benson was really trying to win that fight, he was throwing a lot more power than usual. He was trying to make a statement but the thing is that Thomson is one of the best in the world and has been one of the best for quite a while. These are not easy fights.

He may not be the most exciting guy around, but I don't think he's boring. He's always fighting his ass off.

Oh well. Some people think this is Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots so there's no way to tell them otherwise. It is what it is.

No, because I don't like him for whatever reason (to much smirking and 'gawd' sh*t maybe ...) and wan't to see him get knocked out.

Ok to be completly serious, Benson is a great fighter and I haven't been bored watching him fight (haven't seen the Thompson fight yet) but the Frankie, Gilbert and Diaz fights were all really good - just that in some of the, the wrong guy won (FE II  )

Still, don't like him :icon_conf

I don't think he's boring. I wouldn't mind more risk taking and some finishes from him but I still like to watch him fight.

I'm a huge fan of Nate, Pettis, Edgar and Gilbert. I've rooted against Benson in almost every one of his fights. I used to dislike him very much until I realized what a down to earth nice guy he is.

With all that said, I find Benson fights to be very entertaining. I find them entertaining because he's in high profile fights that are close with alot of tension. I'm usually on the edge of my seat because I know one slight mistake could cost either fighter the round. I enjoy close fights especially if I'm invested in the fighters like watching the Gilbert/Frankie fight. To me Benson doesn't try to stall and completely avoid a fight. He fights and the fights just end up that way because the fighters are so close in skill level.

I love watching Benson fight and this is coming from someone who has had many of my favorite fighters lose to him in very close split decisions. It's not his fault the judges give him the fight.

I had a hard time answering this. I don't think he's boring most of the time, but I don't think he's particularly exciting either. His recent string of fights hasn't been unentertaining, they've just been surrounded by controversy so people ignore the actual fights. He's also been in great fights with Guida, Pettis, Miller, and Cerrone. So no he's not boring, but he's not exciting either.

Yes.
I don't see him as being much of a fighter to be honest, more of a superb athlete and excellent gameplanner. He has no killer instinct and doesn't seem concerned with doing too much damage, just following a rigid gameplan and outpointing the opposition. I don't hate watching him, but he's not a fighter I look forward to seeing.

You can't be serious....

In that first fight, besides dropping Benson a single time, all Edgar managed to accomplish was getting kicked as many different ways as possible for the entire resr of the fight.

And before you say it, don't you dare say "Edgar caught those kicks," because catching a strike AFTER it struck, with full power, means fuck all for the scores.
