Do You Consider Benson 'Smooth' Henderson Boring or Not?

No. He has boring tendencies that are apparent in some situations when facing top level talent though; however, so does everyone with the exception of a truly elite few.
 
He's not fitch level boring but Benson is kinda boring. He has some good moments but be isn't the kind of fighter I'd show to someone to be introduced to mma.
 
People seem to forget how entertaining his fights are when he's clearly the better fighter. Just watch how he mauled Bocek, Miller, Guida, and Diaz. Just so happens guys like Thomson, Gil, and Frankie are about even with him and the fact that all are wrestlers at heart there tended to be a lot of stalemates in the grappling department in those fights. Also all 4 are decent defensively on the feet and smart enough to avoid brawls in most instances.
 
I enjoy watching his fights. More exciting than GSPs fights in my opinion. He just seems to have zero ability to finish. I don't think it's from a lack of trying, but I couldn't really tell you why that is.

No fight is boring to them because they are real fans and see all the "technical aspects" of the fight. Ha.

The man has neVer finished a fight in 8 ufc fights. Thats like 3hours of fighting that have been nothing but point fighting
 
its the fact that he only cares about getting the W. he can be exciting and successful if he wanted to, but he chooses to keep it safe and try to grind out a victory which gives him a higher chance of winning.
 
He's one of the best in world. I get how people want a fight to be a visceral experience, but if you think a guy who does what he needs to do to win in his sport, fuck off.

Ben has some exciting moments too. i remember frankie caught one of bens leg kicks, and while he was still holding on to it, ben tried to head kick him with his other leg. would have been KO of the year if it landed.
 
theres been arguments about if the ufc is more entertainment then it is a sport.

its guys like ben henderson that make it seem more like a sport because, like he always says, he only cares about the W. For any other sport, the W is all that matters too.

Just because he is boring doesn't mean he isn't one of the best. If a team ran the ball for exactly 4 yards every single play and went on to win the superbowl without ever throwing a pass they would be boring. *Expletive at the end of my post to seem tough*

I bet you really loved Mir vs Cro Cop. How about Palalei vs Krylov?

Fights don't need a finish to be entertaining. Most of the best fights in MMA ended in decisions. Shit last years FOTY candidates had 1 finish.

They don't do this because it's not a good strategy, not because it's boring. If that would work every team would do that.
 
Yes, he tries to finish a fight maybe once or twice during the fight. From there he just collects points and looks to not get hit. In my book that's boring and he is choosing to be boring.

If he wanted to be more exciting he sure could be and he was back at WEC. That's why I don't like him and find him boring. I can't blame Fitch for Fitching, he was always like that. Bendo was fun before Pettis took his soul with that Showtime kick
 
He's about as boring as GSP was (which was really, really boring), but because he's a lighter weight, there's more action. And no one can question the undisputed King of the Snoozefest, GSP

Anyway, believe it or not, it's entirely possible to like to watch a guy fight, despite his apparent inability to finish. He's in constant motion, is always pushing the pace, and if he's clearly more skilled than his opposition, he does the exact opposite of point fight. He pours it on even more.

And I DARE you to tell me that I'm an elitist MMA fan who can see the "technical aspects" of fighting.

They need a sense that the fight COULD be ended any second. When you know you can get up and go to the bathroom and not miss anything, It's probly a boring fight.

There are some fights i go to the bar to watch because they'll probly be 25 min with minimal damage, and i can walk around and socialize during the fight, And there are some fights i order because i want to watch every second closely.
