I still remember people claiming wonderboy won the first time...LMFAO, even though it was obvious tyron was the most effective striker since he nearly KTFO wonderboy.

I also find it hilarious how people blame tyron for that boring fight but not wonderboy, who was to afraid to engage, when he was considered a superior striker

Same with MAIA......MAIA got no blame for the tyron or Anderson Silva fight....even tho its obvious that he is the problem, because he sucks at engaging.

You're right and you're wrong. You're right that Tyron matches up well, head to head, against Wonderboy, and you're also right that this has nothing (or very little) to do with the wrestling/take down threat.

But you're wrong in thinking that just because a fighter matches up well with another fighter, even in pure striking, that makes him the superior striker.

Tyron v Wonderboy is a little bit of an Ali v Frazier situation. Head to head, Frazier looks very near Ali's boxing equal... but looking at their entire respective bodies of work, it's fairly clear that Ali is the better boxer. He just struggled with the match-up.

There's zero question, Wonderboy is the better striker. And most people, including Dana White, thought Wonderboy won the rematch (he clearly did).
 
@GOATER It's because he's black. If it were the other way around like with Silva v Weidman, people would agree with you.

You mentioned how he has only powwr....I said if a guy with power beats better technique fighters in striking...he's a better striker.

Im a boxing fan...A boxer beats a brawler is not what we are talking about...power was mentioned...

Take amir khan for example, some would say his boxing is amazing....his techique is amazing...yet there is plenty of power punchers who are better at boxing than him...because boxing/striking is more than technique.


In a kickboxing bout....tyron would beat him, his boxing and explosivbess is simply too much for wonderboy.
 
Yes he is. Tyron has the wrestling threat so he makes it work, but in pure striking terms Wonderboy is the superior striker. Fortunately for Tyron this isn't kickboxing.
 
Very true, TS. If GSP outstruck Wonderbread, people would be creaming their pants. Fedor outstruck CC and I dont think he was ever on the level of WB, yet people use that as evidence for him being GOAT.

Wonderboy boxing is lacking, he does you kicks and alot of karate shit, but in k1......That isn't going to be enough to stop Tyron who's boxing and reflexes are much better than wonderboy.


So yes, Tyron is a better striker even under k1 rules.


BTW like I said before...This is MMA striking......Wonderboy whole striking is set up for MMA, this is why he is very good at keep distance and preventing takedowns...He is already use to this form of striking, so it's not like he is a K1 guy who just transition..If that were the case, I would understand, a Striker needs to adjust to the distance in MMA etc.....he has been doing MMA for a while now.

Woodley isnt a better striker but he makes it work better than most.. kinda like khabib

I realize he's a karate guy, but k1 striking is closer to mma, hence the k1 reference.

The only pure striking match Woodley might win is a boxing match. That karate shit doesn't work in boxing and Woodley is very heavy-handed.

Most dudes that think that Wonderboy is the best striker PERIOD and bs like that are purely because the dude is white in some cases, and then you got the UFC/Dana White shills and Zuffa zombies, followed by those who just believe whatever the UFC, Rogan, White etc are hyping.
