Do people fight every weekend at the bar?

In college there were a LOT of fights at the handful of bars within walking distance to campus.

When I left for a semester abroad my frat brought in a pledge class that LOVED to fight and they created this cycle where they had gotten into so many fights that every weekend they were pretty much guaranteed to run into someone they had fought before.

And what happens when these idiots get in a fight?

They of course expect the big jacked dude (me obviously) to fight whoever the biggest dude on the other team is.

This got old Hella quick.

I don't mind throwing hands to protect a friend, but I did mind continuously having to risk my own health because other people couldn't hold their liquor or behave like adults.

For as much as I love fighting and watch MMA and street fights all the time, street fights are absolutely retarded and almost all of them are easily avoided by not being an asshole and having a smidge of situational awareness, along with having a little bit of intelligence regarding who you surround yourself with.

Street fighting is straight retarded. I will throw down if I have to but only if I have to. You’re risking getting seriously which could have a big effect on your employment and you could catch a case if you knock someone out and they don’t make it. Too many people do MMA nowadays and you have no idea what they can do

Not only that a lot of folks are cowards and will put out a knife or jump you with their buddies instead of shooting the fair one

In my hometown there is basically one bar, and literally every Friday and Saturday there is a mini brawl outside of it.
Anyone else experience anything like this at their local bars?

I think Ive seen this movie before, did the bar owner hire someone that looks like Patrick Swayze to help clean up the joint?

I fight every weekend and have for years. One of these days, I will win one.

But no, fighting at bars is dumb as fuck. I can’t say I haven’t done it but I’ve tried to avoid it every time. My ex’s new man who’s a foot shorter than me suckered me and then received a major beating and tried to press charges on me. It’s not worth it Sherbros. Obviously they just checked the bar surveillance and nothing happened but I’m lucky there was cameras.

Legal trouble is one of the least bad things that could happen honestly and that’s bad enough. You could die

When I was 20 I remember sitting next to my grandmother at Thanksgiving with a fat lip and stitches from a bar fight at college.

Some fuckin pussy sucker punched me.
I have no recollection of it at all.
No idea who did it or even what they looked like.

Certainly doesn't happen every single week but some guy got knocked out outside the bar four doors down from me last Friday. Sat right next to me, some car pulled up, guy marched straight over and I could tell it was going to kick off. Something along the lines of 'where's my money?', the guy hardly replied but it wasn't a 'ok here you go' and the other dude just blasted him. Straight to sleep in a pool of blood. Think the last one there was a month or so ago, so not like your bar. Sounds like fun though :)

I stand on bar ------ yell loudly to get everyone's attention. I proclaim to be an average Sherdogger - then everyone calms down out of respect and fear. Then enjoy free drink rest of night .

We had places like that where I grew up in the country. Little places out in the sticks. They all go shutdown because the cops got sick of having to show up and break up brawls.

It's always the people who don't know how to fight, that are getting into fights. It's bad enough when people who cant throw a punch or play defense, start throwing haymakers.. there's always alcohol mixed into the equation, making it that much more cringy.

Agreed on all points made.

Also, if you carry, you cannot put yourself in these situations. If you are a responsible person, of course. First priority is to always get away from situations you know a fight could occur in.

Yeah, the whole thing is dumb. You’re lucky you were okay, especially when you were that drunk. Stuff like that never would have bothered me then when I was that age but now that I am older, I’d just rather not risk getting arrested, severely injured or both.

I was absolutely wasted when my situation happened and so was the dude that hit me. I barely remember it and I don’t even think he realized he started it to be honest. I’ve seen him since and I’m over it. My ex and I didn’t even have a bad breakup or anything. It’s always a terrible idea to start a fight with a much larger guy who was a hockey fighter when you’re just some 5’8 guy who has never thrown a punch but takes steroids

My father didn’t drink and always said it caused too much BS and as I get older, I am starting to see it his way. Fortunately, I can handle my alcohol better than him. He was a loose cannon. He quit drinking in his 20’s because he was always fighting in bars and decided to “be a man”.

I wasn't particularly drunk.

I don't remember it because it was a sucker punch with absolutely no incident immediately beforehand.

I had been involved in a brawl earlier so I assume it was related to that but when I was hit there was no precursor no warning, no scuffle, no words...

A very large fight had occured previously when some idiot threw a punch at my friend, who actually had a bit of boxing experience and slipped the punch, which subsequently landed... on his girlfriend.

From there a brawl started on the spot beginning at the bar and spilling outside on the sidewalk outside the bar.

I had dude next to the guy who hit my roommates GF in a headlock and was removed from bar by large bouncer with dude still in headlock. Once outside he broke free and I dropped him with a clean right cross. At the same time my other roommate dropped a guy and soccer kicked him.

By this point cop sirens were audible/coming so we left but realized that girl who got hit was not accounted for.
I went back to look for her (mistake) and that is the last thing I remember.

I come back online spitting blood on the other side of the street several hundred feet away from the bar with a friend walking me away from the bar and holding me up.

My memories of the fight are crystal clear.

This occurred several minutes after the fight was over. And when I say sucker punch, I don't mean there was a confrontation and the other dude threw the first punch, I mean I never even saw who hit me, I don't know if they snuck up from behind or what. I have literally no memory of it.

in Hawaii the majority of fights don't happen in bars because most locals don't drink at bars, too expensive. they buy their own beer and drink at someone's house or the beach. there used to be a bar near where i lived a long time ago but it closed because of the violence that happened there every night. the actual name of the bar was "Rainbow Hut" but it became known as "Rambo Hut" because you had to be a bad ass to drink there, someone will eventually pull your card that's why.

Having worked the door at a dive bar, I can confirm this.

It was me. I did it. I was the 6’6, 265 pound, shredded dude who squatted 1000 pounds right before

Yes, people are dumb for wanting to fight. I was friends with a guy at the bar who would come in to drink, play pool, and talk comics with me. He looked like Chase Hooper with glasses and was a BJJ blackbelt. Totally unassuming bad ass.

Also, one time I went to this bar I had never to before with my buddy. This random out of shape guy started talking shit to us out of nowhere. All I can remember thinking is that this idiot has no idea who my buddy is. My friend that was with me, is a kickboxing instructor who owns his own gym. He would have folded this guy in half if he had to.
