Elections DNC today in Chicago

I hate to break it to you guys, but you can already buy a $125k house without a down payment lol.

I actually didn't know that. Got a link?

NVM you mean by paying three times as much per month.

And yes, those people default a lot, like I said. That's why those places offer that.

Housing related. I don’t know for sure if this is a part of her policy platform, but a progressive corporate tax increase is a good thing
Yea I'm 90% sure it is, I think raising it by 7% or something along those lines. Definitely not bad, and not an excessive number either.

Would you literally be able to buy a $125k house essentially with no down payment? Does anyone really think someone who didn't have to do any work to buy a house is going to be able to keep the house? Mortgage defaults will sky rocket.

Different states are going to have different types of loans and what not, but the two big ones are instantly USDA home loans and VA home loans.

Many financial institutions also already offer big grants. Pretty sure you can get a grant for up to $20k for a home purchase in my state from certain institutions.

Do you think Bernie has the balls to tell JB Pritzker anything he does not want to hear?

I don't.

Theo Von did an interview with Bernie.
It was pretty good. One thing I agree with Bernie on is nobody should have to file bankruptcy because of health care.
Obama tried to do something about health care but kind of made it worse, and we are still waiting on Trumps plan, and Ole Man Biden worked on drug prices but nothing else.

The government is not a few dollars short of making all our dreams come true. I wish people would finally wake up to that.
This is the smartest thing I've seen on the internet in a long time.

People at the DNC convention seem to actually believe that if Kamala is elected this will make things better. Never mind that's she's been in power for years and has accomplished nothing. Nothing, interestingly, would be way better than the results if she wins and actually gets to try price controls.

Kills small business investment and has been proven to be a net negative for tax revenue in one of the only places it’s ever been tried — Norway.
I understand the small business part, would probably be my main concern. Not sure I'm grasping the negative tax revenue part at all though. I'll look up some of the Norway you reference here later.

Norway tried it thinking and they had a large wealth transfer out of the country due to the tax it would happen here too and it would kill small businesses and innovation

Well yea...If you don't make a down payment, your loan is going to be more.

Here is example of Kentucky just flat out giving out 20k grants already. Fairly certain Ohio does the same.

And like the $25k thing the Harris campaign is talking about, there will obviously be lots of stipulations for who is eligible.

FBI investigates Democratic National Convention attendees having MAGGOTS slipped into their breakfast

The FBI has launched an investigation into whether maggots were deliberately slipped into the breakfasts of delegates at the Democratic National Convention.

Law enforcement swarmed the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Chicago on Wednesday following reports of the insect attack.

Indiana delegate Tracy Boyd told WGNTV: 'They protected us, of course, and turned it around in minutes.'

She said her group was notified that breakfast service would be briefly delayed due to the incident by pro-Palestine activists.

Since the start of the DNC, pro-Palestine rioters have caused chaos on the streets of Chicago. Several have been arrested for breaching the security perimeter near the United Center and as protests got violent near the Israeli Consulate.

'I really do want to give a shout-out to the hotel staff and leadership,' Boyd added.

All Americans have the right to peaceful protest, but ugly attacks like this have no place in our democracy,' said Indiana Democratic Party spokesperson Sam Barloga.

Democrats are being fed maggots by the far left pro-Palestine people.

Rich people say we need to eat the bugs but I guess that doesn't include Democrat politicians.

I dont see where Bernie took any money from Hyatt. Maybe you know something I don't.
Playing dumb to get a dub?

Answer the question.

Do you think Bernie has the balls to tell JB Pritzker (owner/donor to the DNC) something he does not want to hear?

There is nothing dangerous about taxing unrealized gains. Stop buying into billionaire's fear mongering.

How is it anymore dangerous to tax unrealized gains than it is to loan money based off those same unrealized gains which we do constantly?
Tax the loans against these unrealized gains. Raise capitol gains tax to the rate of labor and lower labor tax to the rate of capitol gains.

"really good housing policy changes, for example"

How do you get around a likely scenario that if first time home buyers have a $25k credit that goes towards their house purchase, they can afford to bid higher on the house they want over someone else knowing they have the credit, pushing up the housing market prices even further as more and more people are using the credit on their first house purchases?
Increasing demand without increasing supply will just drive prices up. But the agenda includes a lot of supply boosting. I don't agree with the credit, but I don't see it as a big negative (and it especially doesn't counteract the rest of her housing policy). She's not the first presidential candidate ever with a perfect agenda, but she's prioritizing a key, unresolved issue, and mostly right on it. I'm pretty excited about that.

If anything, this knee jerk reaction from righests on this particular proposal makes me support it even more.

You guys all got your orders at the same time, it's cute.
It's unrealized gains of the ultrawealthy (nine-figure net worth and above). Still a bad idea, IMO, and extremely unlikely to happen for that reason. One huge asymmetry between the parties is that when a Democratic candidate proposes a bad idea, Democratic policy analysts (and, importantly, staffers) tell them it's a bad idea, and it gets MSM criticism, and it doesn't happen. When a Republican candidate proposes a bad idea (like huge regressive tax cuts, only partly offset by huge tariffs), there are no GOP analysts acting in good faith to say it's bad, and it just gets defended in the media that Republicans consume.
