I always try to separate the art from the artist when it comes to Bill Clinton. If there's anyone I have to (Jeffrey Jones, Roman Polanski, Chris Benoit, all heros who i cant watch anymore) I'd rather it be the guy who balanced the budget and kept us strong in the 90s.

Clinton did not balance the budget, nor is that always the right move (though it was at the time). But more than that: What did Jeffrey Jones do?

My only issue with his health care for all argument is that he continously compares the US to Canada, Sweden, Denmark, etc. And the single biggest difference is population. A nation of 30 million with the right system may be able to do it, but 300+ million adds a ton of nuance and variables. It's not comparable.

We can do it, but it won't be like Sweden.

He's the most prolific speaker in DNC history. I dunno anybody who really dislikes him, either. The 90s were a really good time for a great many people - hopefully it was your childhood - and Bill is indelibly associated with the decade.

He was insanely hated by the right while he was in office. And he's kind of a sleaze and ridiculously overrated as a president.
