I agree that it's very hard to pick against Bivol, but I will do so anyways. Here are my reasons:

- I think Benavidez will be the bigger fighter (I believe Bivol could still fight at 168).
- Bivol tends to tire and take rounds off. Allowing Benavidez to build momentum is not a winning formula.
- Bivol has very sharp combinations but he shells up in between and Benavidez will take advantage, especially to the body.
- Bivol's output may diminish when Benavidez punches in between his combinations.
- Bivol's head won't play as much of a factor against the taller guy

Now, Benavidez does have slower feet and he could find himself trying to cut the ring off and walk into shots. He also may not have an answer for Bivol's length and may underestimate Bivol's strength in the clinch.

But I think Benavidez has a very reasonable chance here.

It’s bold, but your breakdown has merit. The bigger fighter thing has me thinking too.

Anyone see the guy on Rogan saying Bivol dropped Benavidez at churchill boxing gym? He then retracted and said it was David that dropped Bivol with a jab. Interesting if true.

Did you see the size advantage Zurdo had over Bivol? Even Joe Smith was noticeably bigger. Benavidez really isn't that big at light heavyweight. He doesn't have LHW power. I'd even go as far to say that Bivol hits harder than Benavidez does at this weight.

Doesn't sound like a credible source at all. Out of those two only one of them has been dropped in an actual fight and that's Benavidez. Bivol has never been dropped by anyone and he's fought some of the biggest punchers not only in the LHW division but in the entire sport.

Why are you posting Wanderlei's cousin talking about sparring? Bivol didn't look comfortable against Beterbiev in his last fight but he still won. If we get Bivol vs Benavidez then Benavidez will be the underdog. He's expected to lose.

I think Benavidez beats the fuck outta Zurdo and Smith is what I’m gonna reply and leave it at that

Zurdo is a unified cruiserweight champion right now. He's naturally much bigger than Benavidez. When he was fighting at LHW he was coming in at 203 lbs. Think about that for a second. Now he's at cruiser probably coming in at like 210 or 215 lbs.

Why am I posting insight from a pro boxer about the time Benavidez and Bivol shared the ring together? Gee I wonder why. I guess you are one of those who think sparring is just pitty patter and fighters don't try. I guess Bivol was not trying when he was smashing all his partners until Benavidez stepped into the ring. Ignorance is bliss. Bivol will duck Benavidez and fight Callum Smith. Quote me.

Guy, I actually spar. You never have. Secondly, sparring is sparring. It's practice. Did you see Parker vs Bakole? Bakole reportedly was tearing up the top heavyweights in sparring. He'd already sparred Parker in 2022 and gotten the better of him. Except when they fought a few years later Parker knocked him out in 2 rounds. Or how about Dubois vs Hrgovic? Reportedly Hrgovic beat his ass in sparring many years ago. Dubois stopped him when they actually fought.

If Benavidez's sparring stories matched his in-ring performances then that would be worth considering. However, they don't. He's looked pretty poor ever since he moved up to light heavyweight. Not only have the knockouts dried up he can't even put his opponents down. One of the more famous recent examples of a "sparring champion" was Andy Lee. The so-called King of Kronk according to Emanuel Steward himself. Andy's in-ring performances didn't match his ability in sparring. He was stopped multiple times and by guys that had no business doing that to him.

Dubois was a kid when they sparred, sort of like Benavidez and he still whipped Bivol. You seem think means nothing at all, that if a opponent whips you in sparring day in day out its not indicative of what would happen in a pro fight, which is just dumb. Its not a 100% guarantee but it makes it far more likely he will beat you as a pro.

As for Benavidez not looking good because he can't even knock down 2 high level opponents, thats the dumbest casual take ever. You could write off every boxer in history if you used that same standard.

Benavidez never whooped Bivol. He may've gotten the better of him at times but I guarantee you that it's also gone the other way around. No, sparring isn't necessarily indicative of what would happen in an actual sanctioned fight when your actual performances are underwhelming. That's been Benavidez lately. Gvozdyk was washed and just showed up for the paycheck. Morrell is a former SMW that had very limited professional experience.

This is a bad take.

90% of Bivol’s opponents were taller than him. Height was never a factor because Bivol excels at distance control.

Bivol is open to the body but Benavidez will not land a single shot there because Bivol’s footwork is levels above his.

Benavidez only lets his hands go if he can trap his opponent, which won’t be possible. Bivol’s work rate will be significantly higher throughout the fight and no rounds will be taken off.

Since some of you guys still think that sparring holds significant weight then I'll give you another recent example that will surely change your mind. This one may even be the ultimate example. A young Errol Spence Jr. got the better of Floyd in 2013. At the time Floyd was the P4P king and Spence was just a green pro at 4-0. There were actual witnesses there that saw it such as Mickey Bey. Paul Spadafora also got the better of Floyd once in sparring when Floyd wasn't in fight shape and Spadafora was. We actually have the footage of it. It's online.

Plant and Andrades footwork were way better thsn Davids and he busted up their bodies. The idea David wont land a single body shot on Bivol just might be the dumbest thing I have ever heard on here. Well done.

Canelo has better body work than Benavidez and it wasn't even a factor against Bivol.

If any odds are out there yet for Bivol vs Benavidez be sure to post them here. I just found a line for Beterbiev vs Benavidez strangely enough. This is a fighter that's 40 years old and just lost to Bivol yet the bookies still comfortably favor him over Benavidez. Hmm. It's almost like they also believe that Benavidez's last couple of performances at LHW haven't been very convincing. But, but, he's an animal in sparring! 😂

He doesn't throw as many body punches, and does not have his range or speed, but he has better body work? You just say random stuff.
