I’m hearing that if it happens - PBC is fully involved on the event
The fights were great if you're a fan of boxing, which youre not. You're a fan of Benavidez. They can have a 3rd after Benavidez. Since when have we ever seen a trilogy 3 fights in a row? The fights weren't that good.
Oh come on, Blast. He watches plenty of boxing, it’s not illegal to have a favorite fighter, he’s a passionate fan.The fights were great if you're a fan of boxing, which youre not. You're a fan of Benavidez.
Benavidez HIMSELF said in an interview he would prefer to wait until Biev and Bivol finished their trilogy. It's the fight that makes the most sense since neither fighter definitively proved that they're better than the other. A trilogy would answer that question.
Benavidez can fight the winner of that.
If we don't get a trilogy between Bivol and Biev, it'll be a crying fucking shame.
i have been lurking on this site for far longer than ive been posting and other than when Benavidez fights someone, he's not showered praise on any other boxer that i can remember. he is reductive when talking about other boxers' achievements but routinely overstates Benavidez' achievements. the guy was claiming Usyk only threw 1-2s. come ON.Oh come on, Blast. I happen to agree with him, Beter/Bivol 3 is important to me, but I like Bivol/Benavidez waaaaaaaay more. If we get Beter/Bivol 3, sure, okay, great. Will watch.
But for me it’s always the young lion finding their rhythm and that’s Benavidez right now.
They were ok.The fights were great if you're a fan of boxing

i get it, Benavidez is red hot right now. but i would take the man at his own words when he says he wants to see Bivol/Biev 3. it needs to happen immediately.
I mean, im just taking the guy at his word like i would take any guy at his word. i dont inherently distrust anybody off the bat. not standing in the way of it doesnt mean he doesnt want to see it either. youre playing semantics.Since when do you take David at his word for anything? When he agrees with you? He also never said he wanted to see the trilogy. He said he would not stand in the way of it, which he said before it was ordered.
I know lots of people like you live in fantasy land and casually throw around fights and trilogies without thinking of the implications, so let me help you out. If they have a trilogy later this year, the earliest David could fight the winner is probably mid 2026, so that's a 1 year delay right there. Would Bivol really fight Benavidez next after a tough trilogy with Beterbiev or would he want an easier fight? If beterbiev wins he would be 41,, would he even be ready to fight David anytime soon? What about injuries?
You could easily be looking at an 18 months or more delay for the top contender to have a shot at a belt if they have their trilogy, which is not acceptable to me. They had 2 fights and split them. Move on. You can't hold up all the belts for that.
nah, they were really compelling matchups between two extremely skilled boxers. im sorry your mancrush wasnt fighting, but thats neither here nor there. Biev's an amazing pressure fighter and Bivol is an incredible out-boxer. its a classic clash of styles and since theyre so close in skill level they were both nailbiters for me.The funny thing is , an actual real long term boxing fan would know those fights were good fights but nothing special. A casual though would get carried away and think they were the most amazing fights ever because they don't know what a genuine great fight actually is. Like you.
neither Biev nor Bivol came out of either fight with any major injuries. that means its perfect timing for them to run it back one more time. how many great trilogies have been lost because of delay, or injury?

the funny thing is, a great fight is also in the eye of the beholder. and they were both great fights. maybe because you pretty obviously dont like either of them, thats why you didnt find the fights interesting. in that case, its more a matter of your lack of taste rather than the fight itself not being interesting.
ive been watching boxing for a long time, so i know what i like. and i liked both Biev/Bivol fights a lot.
here again, youre disparaging a boxer you dont like in favor of Benavidez. You think a 3rd fight with a 40 year old he just beat is more important for him than taking on a young lion that is rated as a p4p fighter by many and one of the biggest boogeyman in the sport for years? I think the Benavidez fight is better for his legacy than beating Beterbiev again.
I meant what if they are injured after the trilogy fight. That could totally derail a Benavidez fight, and we lose a great match up just to see a replay 3rd fight, which will look exactly the same as the previous ones. Nah. We need fresh match ups.

if Bivol/Biev 3 were to happen after Bivol beats Benavidez, for instance, and then Bivol loses to Biev, everyone would say that Bivol wasnt at his best because the Benavidez fight took a lot out of him. same thing if Biev fights someone else before the trilogy. i want both Biev and Bivol in as best form as possible for the trilogy fight. its so fascinating because of how close in skill they both are.
Benavidez should absolutely get the winner of that. he's made a great case for himself at LHW in just two fights.
that and both Beterbiev and Bivols best signature wins are each other, and they look like two men running into a wall when they meet. I want to see one of them fight Benavidez while they are in tact. They fought very evenly, we know they are in the same ball park but who is Benavidez and who are they when they meet him? I don’t feel the stakes of Beter/bivol anymore. They are neck and neck. What if Benavidez just buries the one he faces and makes himself a mega proven star over night? We already know how the rubber match is gonna look, we have no idea what Benavidez brings to the mix until we see it. That’s what’s interesting.Since when do you take David at his word for anything? generally when the best fight the best, the fights are more entertaining. not always, but often.A compelling tense fight is not the same as a great fight. You keep talking about my bias but what about yours? If Bivol is your fav fighter, you will obviously think the fight was more amazing than it was. The general consensus is they were good fights but not great. It's not just my opinion. Casuals like you automatically think just because 2 elite fighters fight it means its a great fight. Its like some saying Usyk Fury 2 was a great fight, when it was pretty meh.

Beterbiev was THE boogeyman and still is pretty much considered as such at LHW. he's older now yes, but he has looked excellent for his entire career. he JUST was undisputed champ and beat Bivol to do it! its not like this is old hat, these fights just happened within the last half-year. Benavidez has done well at LHW so far but his resume is limited compared to Biev's.
we also dont know what a 3rd fight will look like until it happens. boxers can turn old overnight in the ring. if they gotta give up a belt for it, fuck it, i dont care. i wanna see it again.
Benavidez can pick up that spare belt in the meantime.
Third fight with Beterbiev makes sense because Beterbiev is already declining. Longer they wait less fun it'd be.
Nothing to prove? They have a tied rivalry. Bivol can claim to have a recent decision win over Beterbiev but Beterbiev can claim the same. Both are favored to BEAT Benavidez so let's curb the ducking nonsense. But Bivol just BEAT that boogeyman, so he has nothing to prove with Beterbiev. You are so desperate to see a replay that you prefer Bivol to drop the belt to Benavidez rather than fight him? Ye thats a ducks.
