i have been lurking on this site for far longer than ive been posting and other than when Benavidez fights someone, he's not showered praise on any other boxer that i can remember. he is reductive when talking about other boxers' achievements but routinely overstates Benavidez' achievements. the guy was claiming Usyk only threw 1-2s. come ON.

i get it, Benavidez is red hot right now. but i would take the man at his own words when he says he wants to see Bivol/Biev 3. it needs to happen immediately.

if Bivol/Biev 3 were to happen after Bivol beats Benavidez, for instance, and then Bivol loses to Biev, everyone would say that Bivol wasnt at his best because the Benavidez fight took a lot out of him. same thing if Biev fights someone else before the trilogy. i want both Biev and Bivol in as best form as possible for the trilogy fight. its so fascinating because of how close in skill they both are.

Benavidez should absolutely get the winner of that. he's made a great case for himself at LHW in just two fights.

If they have a trilogy later this year, the earliest David could fight the winner is probably mid 2026, so that's a 1 year delay right there. Would Bivol really fight Benavidez next after a tough trilogy with Beterbiev or would he want an easier fight? If beterbiev wins he would be 41,, would he even be ready to fight David anytime soon? What about injuries?

You could easily be looking at an 18 months or more delay for the top contender to have a shot at a belt if they have their trilogy, which is not acceptable to me. They had 2 fights and split them. Move on. You can't hold up all the belts for that.

I mean, im just taking the guy at his word like i would take any guy at his word. i dont inherently distrust anybody off the bat. not standing in the way of it doesnt mean he doesnt want to see it either. youre playing semantics.

belts are whatever - undisputed is cool but they already both were undisputed. i just want a 3rd fight whether its belts or not. belt orgs will strip a boxer of a title whenever they feel like it, it seems. the IBF in particular seems to do that a lot, and they just announced recently that Eifert is Bivol's mandatory.

Benavidez is still young and still has a lot of fighting years left in him. i think he is either approaching his prime or just starting his prime right now.
Biev is near the end of his career; i want the important fights for him to happen ASAP because he's one of my favorite active boxers.

A compelling tense fight is not the same as a great fight. You keep talking about my bias but what about yours? If Bivol is your fav fighter, you will obviously think the fight was more amazing than it was. The general consensus is they were good fights but not great. It's not just my opinion. Casuals like you automatically think just because 2 elite fighters fight it means its a great fight. Its like some saying Usyk Fury 2 was a great fight, when it was pretty meh.

here again, youre disparaging a boxer you dont like in favor of Benavidez.

Beterbiev was THE boogeyman and still is pretty much considered as such at LHW. he's older now yes, but he has looked excellent for his entire career. he JUST was undisputed champ and beat Bivol to do it! its not like this is old hat, these fights just happened within the last half-year. Benavidez has done well at LHW so far but his resume is limited compared to Biev's.

we also dont know what a 3rd fight will look like until it happens. boxers can turn old overnight in the ring. if they gotta give up a belt for it, fuck it, i dont care. i wanna see it again.

Benavidez can pick up that spare belt in the meantime.

that and both Beterbiev and Bivols best signature wins are each other, and they look like two men running into a wall when they meet. I want to see one of them fight Benavidez while they are in tact. They fought very evenly, we know they are in the same ball park but who is Benavidez and who are they when they meet him? I don’t feel the stakes of Beter/bivol anymore. They are neck and neck. What if Benavidez just buries the one he faces and makes himself a mega proven star over night? We already know how the rubber match is gonna look, we have no idea what Benavidez brings to the mix until we see it. That’s what’s interesting.

generally when the best fight the best, the fights are more entertaining. not always, but often.
Usyk-Fury 1 was awesome. might go down as a future classic. 2 was not as exciting but still plenty good. i was and am a big fan of both those guys so that added to it.
Beterbiev is one of my favorite fighters, not Bivol (although i am a fan). yeah im biased towards him, just like youre biased towards Benavidez. we have differing opinions, hence the debate happening right now.
