I mean Hunter chose Rodriguez over him for the next title shot.
Then Sean Shelby mentioned winner of Lopes/Jean Silva gets next in line, passing over Evloev twice more.
Then Lerone Murphy gets a highlight reel knockout, which supposedly makes him next in line after Rodriguez.

Poor Evloev got passed around 3 times in a row.
Maybe he should move up to Lightweight and chase after Topper.

I think they're checked out til 2026 tbh

We probably ask about movsar's next fight more than anyone at HQ ever has altogether.

Probably even more than Movsar asks about it.

The UFC don't need more boring Caucuses decision machines. Guy is 9-0 with 9 decisions. There's no reason for that other than you are fighting extremely safe to win decisions, avoiding taking any risks to finish the fight.

I won't be shocked if they release him if gets 1 more boring decision. Khamzat has a huge fan base, and he's a champion, so he gets a free pass. But Mokaev is gone, and I think Evloev is at serious risk here.

MMA is a sport lol

Yes they did overlook him and really treating him like he isn’t a part of the promotion. Dana has basically said verbally he doesn’t know who he is. I see it like this. He is a wrestling/grappling machine who doesn’t promote himself at all and who doesn’t finish fights. He also doesn’t seem to look for finishes when wrestling/grappling (once in a while he will fish for one). Thst isn’t going to impress the casuals and isn’t going to sell a bunch of tickets. He is pretty much what the UFC is not looking for. It’s just a dude essentially. I think he has two options. Take more fight with guys in the top 15 and look for more finishes and they like crazy for them. Or two ask for his release. I think they would honestly release him with no hesitation. It’s sad because it’s supposed to be a real sport and in meritocracy in most sports he would have already earned a TS. But it’s also entertainment and most fans aren’t going to find him entertaining. He could keep going the belal route but at least belal talked a bunch. Evloev does nothing at all to promote himself.

His style is indeed working against him. They'll use him dropping from his recent fight to further shuffle him back and make him fight at least twice more before title consideration.

They can't afford to have another Caucacus champ.

Way too much representation from one region.

I don't agree with it because I think the best should be champs but it's a business and this is bad for business.

Would rather have another Russian decision machine fight for the title than Yair “El Rank Squatera” Rodriguez. But ideally I think the next shot should be Murphy.

There's a long history of "boring" fighters like Evloev getting shafted by the UFC. This is nothing new.

Lerone Murphy was on the same track until he elbowed Pico's soul into Bolivia. Evloev needs a similar moment, or he needs a ridiculously long win streak (ala Fitch, Kamaru, Merab, Leon, Belal, Ankalaev, etc.).

Mokaev is gone because he attacked an opponent in a hotel lobby after pretending to make amends - not a remotely comparable situation. The UFC won't get rid of Evloev lol he's one of the best FWs in the world and they're not going let him get snatched up by another org simply because he has a decision-heavy style.

Doubt any other org would make bank off this guy.
