Did none of you guys know about Rountree before this fight?

Nobody knew about him. Nobody ever heard of him. We're all a bunch of fucking retards. Everyone here is retarded except for you.

I thought Rountree should have lost the decision to Jacoby when they fought, so I was pretty surprised how good his striking looked in there with poatan.

Khalil took some rounds of Perreira, like Jan, but couldn't make it to the end of the fight. He deserves credit for doing better than Jiri and Hill.

I never want to sound like I'm shitting on a non-dirtbag fighter, but... this is a lot of credit for a brutal loss in a fight that should never have been made.

Anyone have the link to the original “ya’ll don’t know who JDS is” post? At first I thought this post was a resurrection of that meme.

I agree, people were sleeping on Rountree's elite talent. He was winning the fight until he got systematically destroyed and the ref had to step in to save him.

This. Rountree was always a feared striker but he lost some hype when most people thought he got outstruck by Jacoby.

Let's be honest, Roundtree was a 34 year old,13-5 journeyman who's best win is Anthony Smith. Who was punching above his station and was a stylistic good matchup (Kickboxer vs kickboxer) for Alex.

Both knew it was going to be a striking match and Roundtree fought his heart out but was needing to go hard for 3 rounds while Alex was just the better fighter.
dude killed goku sohan or whatever his name, the kickboxer.... yeah, there was a chance he could do it, and he proved to be a game fighter. Izzy used a blitz attack to finish off alex, and rountree is really good with the blitz. At the very first rush in by Alex, I already knew, that was the wrong gameplan, Rountree thrives on a blitz counter, and Alex paid for it. It's a stylistically good fight for Alex for sure, but he did underestimate the guy.

he did technically win two rounds in my eye, but that was due to mistakes by poatan, however, the ring dominance always felt in favor of poatan and the oddsmakers thought the same as he remained the betting favorited all through the fight, despite "winning" rounds. Alex would need to put in work and break down at a slower rate, and it's exactly what happened.

His understanding of Muay Thai def helped him in this fight

He was probably winning the fight in the earlier rounds.

He was

but by the end of the 2nd...

I was like: He's not going to be able to keep this up for 5. He's going to slow down and Poatan just needs one opening to change the whole thing around.

Its one of those rare fights where someones winning and you see the loss coming anyway.

This is alot more common in boxing where theres so many rounds to strategize when to hang back and when to put it on them.

Some boxers intentionally will drop the first 3 rounds just to get the reads.

Petr Yan does this but grappling and only 3 -5 rounds hurts his game.

Yeah tell me who you think had a better striking game at LHW in the UFC.
You talk about my takes but offer nothing yourself, which is pretty retarded.
By one of the best you mean top 200?
I am not going to list every title winner and contender that was a striker just to educate you. There’s been better guys in every single era starting from the 20 year old Vitor Belfort era to today lol.

Do you even mma??
