Goals & Gains Devil's power/strength training log

What are your opinions of it? I'm always a little skeptical of supps claiming to be "the next creatine".

Hard to say, as I just started it this week. Furthermore, I haven't done any weights/movements where I know exactly how many reps I typically get. Give me a couple weeks and I'll provide some feedback. I will say that the whole-body pins and needles thing is bizarre.

Been taking it easy this week.

Had to go through 2 steps in the police application process. Went to the initial interview which was held at a hotel and felt a bit weird. Got asked 6 questions with stop watch counting down my 20 min. Hopefully I did ok on this. Went to a shooting range with a gym buddy of mine and shot a rented Sig P229. Was a bit of getting used to a gun going off and the recoil but was quite a bit of fun when I got used to it. My aim was pretty crappy though I definitely got better throughout. Still this is not something i will do often. 100 rounds ended up costing almost 50$ despite not having to pay for ear/eye protection(targets, gun, bullets, 1 hour lane)...

Then today went to the physical ability aspect of the process.
The first part of the physical consisted of obstacle course around cones, ducking under a couple 5 foot high horizontal poles, jumping over a curb, going over 3 foot obstacle then pushing sled of 225lb ...going around the course again and then dragging 145lb dummy. THis was to be done in 60 seconds or less. Anyone under 44 seconds didnt have to do a 2nd portion of the physical. After that we did trigger pulls on an empty gun(baretta)...12 trigger pulls with each hand in under 25 sec. The gun was held over a wooden stick and if the gun dropped too much on it then it would fall off and the exercise was a fail. Passed this part with 36 sec despite wasting at least few sec the wrong way after finishing with the sled pull and then grabbing dummy the wrong way. Dummy was way more awkward then I thought for 145lb and I cut my finger on it. It was also weird pulling trigger afterwards as my finger tips were numb. Reminds me of the sequence from the movie Gambler with Mel Gibson when the indian had the russian shoot a bow that was designed to screw up fingers so shooting a gun straight would be impossible afterwards...lol...

if the first part was failed then it was on to most sit ups in 60 sec, 3 tries at curling this metalic rod slowly which was attached to a machine measure the resistance(wanted to try it for sheer amusement but i passed obstacle course/trigger pull tests so no such luck lol)...then for finalle one had to pedal a stationary bike for 60 sec for leg endurance...

I definitely need to work on my aerobic conditioning.

I think I may try deadlifting tomorrow. I want to try 700 for Graedy PR day but I am guessing i'll be ramping/'hitching like a MFer to get the weight locked out. Perhaps 405 in 10 min for the closer. Dont know will see how it feels. Getting down to 205-210 sucks somewhat. What sucks even more is the strict BMI standards used by the PD. So I may need to cut down even more eventually.

So this is where DS's log went.
Sounds like you did pretty well.

Nice job on the PT tests man! The hard part's over - now is the waiting game.

Still got a long way to go. Need to submit background packet, meet with background investigator, polygraph, medical, physch....probably another interview....which will probably will take another few or more months. Avg app process is now around 6-8 months. Down from the previous of upwards of 2 years.

The background packet is a bitch - once you fill it out, be sure you photocopy it. You'll want to keep that shit in case you ever need to reapply. I had to dig around for SS#'s, previous addresses from childhood, bank statements, debts, previous employers, etc...a real pain in the ass...and you'll only want to do it once.

The worst part is the polygraph though. When you are filling out the packet, go off of your memory...if you can't remember it - it didn't happen. Once it's filled out, don't think back on it, let that shit go until after you take the test.

Yep have to go get all the transcripts from HS, college...i got 3 weeks to file it all....

Are you applying to a LE agency?

Heh everyone has to ahve an off day Debil you'll come out of it strong. Forgive me again i know i posted it somwhere esle, but what is beta alanine for? i'm assuimng pre-w/o? I've just recently been doing 400g of caffine and I can't tell the difference besides shaking after I am done working out.

Also you ahve to take a fucking polygraph test to be a cop? WTF questions do they ask you? remember celing cat is watching you masturbate.

Edit to say BMI is bull shit. We used to ahve that for the military and it's the most god awful excuse for a body mass test ever.

be careful with caffeine...not every1 is like fatty and can take a pound of that shit and still be fine.....start slow....and dont go over 5mg per kg of bw.....I have high tolerance for it and I dont go over 300mg most of the time...400mg tops usually....also be careful on how it can affect your CNS...you can easily overexert and then feel like you have a flu/severe lethargy...this is why i like my B-complex pre/post

Yep to be a cop in my area you have to take a polygraph test verifying the information you submitted. Not quite as bad as applying to fbi, cia, secret service but nevertheless....I dont hold it in high regard but I will do whatever is necessary to become a police officer...the psych test is the real comedy....questions on beastiality and such are fairplay....hope they dont find out about that 1 time I broke into the zoo and had my way with all the llamas...

hope bmi standards are not absolute....

I checked your log for some of your latest dead lift workouts....

solid deadlift workout on 5-17-07
4 zercher deads on 6-5-07
solid deadlift workout on 6-26-07
6 power cleans 0n 7-1-07

maybe you should start planning your weeks/months....

Edit to say BMI is bull shit. We used to ahve that for the military and it's the most god awful excuse for a body mass test ever.

The BMI is quite a good test of body mass, it's just that body mass is a bad indicator of obesity/leanness, athletic performance potential, strength, endurance etc.

i think the week off screwed me up. I dont do that well when I plan my shit out. I think I will do more frequent/higher volume workouts akin to my press days....600-650 singles for deadlifts. Zercher deadlifts may be worth another go as are powercleans. I am definitely going to throw in something after my squats....

be careful with caffeine...not every1 is like fatty and can take a pound of that shit and still be fine.

Nonsense. Caffeine make you thick, strong like bull. You take big quantity caffeine. Box squat hundred pound PR. Yes.
