Devil's advocate: Jones shouldn't have been DQ'ed in Hamill fight

Timeline of events:

1. Jones elbows Hamill 12/6
2. Referee stops the action, takes 1 point(!!) from Jones
3. Hamill is on the mat, eyes covered in blood
4. Referee ASKS Hamill if he can continue
5. Hamill is deaf and cannot see referee's lips, thus doesn't say anything
6. Referee considers Hamill unable to continue the fight and stops the action.

Should probably have been declared a no-contest. The single elbow wasn't enough to warrant a DQ, but a fighter shouldn't get a win because an opponent is unable to continue after receiving an illegal blow (otherwise every fighter will try to say blind an opponent and then take the 1 point loss because they know they'll easily beat their now blind opponent once fighting resumes).

There is no difference between 12/6 elbows and Travis Browne's elbows

11 -5/4 not the same as 12 - 6...get eyes checked please

12-6 here would be and up and down elbow to neck/back of barnetts head

Should have been an NC and year ban for Jones' PED use.

There have been so many examples of illegal elbows in the UFC that were not punished or penalized that its a bit ironic that Jones is the guy that lost a fight because of it.

Hell DC should have been penalized for his eyepokes against Stipe and got zip.

Reffing in the UFC is damn inconsistent.

We need a rematch. Hamill deserves it.

<Moves>

Not a Jones fan here but that 12-6 rule is so stupid.

Hammil was done before the elbows.

Jones should have been awarded the victory, as it was a legal move that did the fight ending damage.

Many a fighter has lost by stupidity. Stupid is as Stupid did. Stupid lost.

I'm fine with a DQ if we have to give one but don't make the other guy winner. That makes no sense

someone said earlier that travis should have been disqualified which I disagree with because I see 9-3 legal elbows
Look one comment above your previous and answer the question

Wtf?

An illegal move led to Hamil being unable to continue so it had to be a dq.

Have you ever asked yourself WHY those elbows are illegal?!
Hint: It has nothing to do with the clock...

Ok...but the rule references 12 to 6 motion or straight down...so regardless of the reason it doesnt apply to said GIF ..is my point

Also 12 -6 elbows are dangerous they should be banned..all other elbows are fair game in my book...they dont impact the same when thrown on angles

Yeah he shouldn't have been disqualified for that. Yes the elbows were illegal but they weren't what stopped the fight. The injury from the slam is what ended the fight.

And that's what Matt said about it. But yes, Jones is a dirty fighter overall so it's whatever.

This. The fight was over on the slam not the hellbows.
