Derrick Lewis Has Absolutely No Chance

BB is going to be in the best shape of his life and go for the kill. I am not sold on Gane at all. As of right now I think the media is seriously overeating him.
I think the Beast knocks him out cold inside of 3, followed by the best post fight speech in UFC history.

Lewis fans are delusional. Struggled with the 5'7 Latifi badly. Lost to Blagoi but got a gift decision. Got taken down and nearly subbed by a dinosauric Oleynik and walked down and TKOd by a prehistoric fossil of Mark Hunt. Gane is going to send Lewis back to the Texas BBQ where he belongs.

I agree the media is overhyping Lewis right now,

Still, he always has the big KO power.

I think Gane should be the favorite, he is faster, more skilled.

The only reason Derrick Lewis is even on his second title shot is because he has repeatedly cashed in on his "puncher's chance"

Derrick is always a live dog

Black beast has a chance against anyone. Especially in a 5 round fight against a striker who will keep it standing and with not much power.

Obviously missed the Volkov fight lol

Derrick has very heavy hands, but we also have not seen Gane knocked out or even down through 90+ minutes of octagon time.

Until we see Gane KO/TKOd there is no way to know if he is even susceptible to being finished in that manner.

I would apply the same logic to Ngannou. We have not seen him go down to a single shot nor KO/TKOd. While there have been signs he is susceptible to a TKO due to fatigue, there is nothing to suggest he is going to go down from any one shot.

Not every fighter is built the same so it is MMA math to conclude that the ability to KO Volkov means one has the ability to KO Gane.

I swear people have been saying this on sherdog for like every Black Beast fight since forever, then he just knocks them all out cold hahaha its cute really

This is another myth. Derrick has not actually knocked out that many opponents during the second half of his UFC career.

At the beginning of Derricks UFC career he was knocking out nearly every opponent. That high knockout rate though has waned significantly as his career has progressed. His first knockout post pandemic of Aleksei Oleinik was his first knockout since his fight against Volkov in 2018.

Over Derricks last ten fights he has won by decision nearly as much as he has won by knockout. He has won by knockout four times, won by decision three times, lost by knockout twice, and lost by submission once.

For context, over his past ten UFC fights Alexander Volkov has also won by knockout four times and won by decision three times. Curtis Blaydes over his last ten UFC fights has also won by knockout four times.

Derrick is not quite the knockout artist at this stage of his career as he is made out to be; most of it is hype and recency bias.

This is about the third thread TS has started now claiming Lewis has absolutely no chance of winning. Beginning to think TS is shook and trying to convince himself.

Anyway, Lewis via heel hook

Just balancing the atmosphere.

Not every thread needs to be about McGregor or an ode to The Black Beast's greatness.

You are either dumb, or poor.

If dumb, carry on.
If not dumb, then let's see your life's fortune on a betting slip.

Gane unfortunately commits a lot of accidental fouls (eye pokes, groin shots). I don't trust that an opponent who knows they cannot win will not eventually take the easy way out.

Theres a strong chance the referee will be one that has ever officiated one of Ganes fights so he won't get the benefit of the doubt.

While unlikely, it is something that must be kept in mind in 2021 when betting on fights, given the rash of DQs and fights ended prematurely due to fouls.

Saying BB has little to no chance isn’t saying much at all. He has often times found himself at a technical disadvantage. His power has also turned the tides on multiple occasions against the very fighters that should’ve walked through him.

just watch the fight and see what happens. Maybe he’ll lose, maybe he’ll win. Nothing new.

Nothing to see here.

How many times does Lewis need to land “one lucky punch” before people figure out it’s not lucky?

Derrick over the second half of his UFC career has not actually been the knockout artist that many of us regard him as.

Derrick has heavy hands, no question, but over his past ten fights he has won by decision nearly as much as he has won by KO/TKO.

Over his previous ten fights he has 4 KO/TKOs wins, 3 Dec wins, and 3 losses.

For context, the only ranked HW with at least ten UFC fights that does not have at least four wins by KO/TKO over those ten fights is Marcin Tybura.

We have seen him knockout his last two opponents spectacularly so we forget that before those two knockouts he went two years without a knockout.

Every time someone makes a thread like this, it blows up in their face. Every. Time.

I should now put money on Lewis since idiot TS just jinxed Gane

Who has Derrick Lewis fought that is better than Gane?

Derrick is not "durable as fuck", he got beat up by Oleinik for an entire round less than a year ago. The same Oleinik who is on a ten fight losing streak.

Cormier, Ngannou....

Do you know what durable means?

Has he really fought better competition? He didn’t knock Ngannou out and Derrick got submitted easily by DC. I guess you can point at Blaydes but Blaydes is far away from title contention with the specific losses he has on his record now. Dos Santos, Rozenstruik, and Volkov are pretty good wins for someone with les than 10 professional MMA fights.

Volkov yes, Rozenstruik is ok but JDS is a shite win these days

Of course, he does have a chance. Have a look at his fight against volkov.

Gane isn't knocking anyone out. The only ways Lewis will lose are if he tires himself out or if he constantly gets taken down. He shouldn't be worried about Ganes power so will take 1 to give 1, should be a fairly easy night for him

Gane getting zapped early and turns tentative. Late ko for Lewis. Something like 35 fights to 9 is a huge edge and will get DL out of some trouble.
