Elections Democrat Party dirty tricks exposed

And nor is a tariff a tax on the American people without using the same license as calling inflation a tax.
It is a silly semantic game. It is a tax on foreign exports. In order to compromise for the increased roadblocks, exporters will increase the prices of goods sold to American consumers so they maintain a profit.

In retaliation, other countries will match our energy and tariff our goods that are exported there so then American Producers will end up paying that "tax" for shipping.

Can you link somewhere that claims that tariffs are applied on other countries or that incidence doesn't fall on consumers?

Here's the first non-sponsored result I get when I search "who pays tariffs?" It’s not a controversial issue. Trump is the only person I've seen try to claim that other countries pay tariffs that we apply.

Again, if your view is that cutting taxes on the rich and raising them on everyone else is good, just say that. But you can't say that that's not the plan.

I am quite confused on where you are getting that I said cutting taxes in the rich and raising them for others is good. That is the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I believe and what I have said.

And even the sources you provided earlier states that the tariffs are applied to the countries trying to import goods into this country.

Yeah I see what you're saying there man but I think mostly a lot of middle class people's taxes went up under Trump. Mine certainly went up under Trump last time.

And I know what you mean about differing sources and I am just like you... not quite interested in politics enough to become deeply. Deeply informed.

But the people Trump has put in his cabinet so far definitely want to raise taxes on the middle class and cut social welfare programs and give rich people a big break and I think that's what will happen ultimately.

Gosh, it’s almost like he wants to be hated by everyone. I mean, I already do hate both sides, and maybe that is why I am not interested in politics

If you import steel and there's no tariff, you pay for the steel. If you want to import steel and there is a tariff, your government steps in and says "before you buy it, you must pay us X". X can be a flat fee, a percentage, whatever. That X cuts into your bottom line. If you make and sell a product with the steel, you must raise the price on your product to make up for X.

What are you talking about? Try to find a quote from any credible source saying that tariffs are paid by other countries. You won't be able to. It's just a false claim, like saying the sun rises in the west.

As for the first thing, you keep thinking there's some debate about tariffs, when all I'm trying to do is state the uncontroversial fact about what they are, which is a tax on the poor and middle class.

You’re disappointing me, Jack.. the statement you’re trying to get everyone to admit too, “tariffs are a tax on the middle class and poor” is not precisely true (the rich pay cost increases too), but the funny part is that you’re not addressing any of the points anyone is making about the other, longer term effects..
Most economic policies have a bit of pain involved.

I think you’re a smart guy and a good writer, but you don’t seem capable of having an honest back and forth with someone you consider an adversary..

Like calling me dumb while ignoring the brunt of my post.

If you’re going to accuse people of being dumb, dishonest, partisan hacks then try and do better yourself.

And, please address the article that is the topic of the thread…

Life’s a garden, Jack. Dig it. It’s ok to have fun sometimes.

I don't know how it happened, but some people have begun to believe "tariffs" and "extorting foreign nations" are synonymous. Maybe it's related to how Ireland thought being a tax haven was a source to infinite money?

That's my favorite Paul Krugman quote too.

Tariffs land more heavily on the poor and middle class, and Trump is also planning bigger giveaways to rich people again.

Again, most economists estimate about a 0.5% GDP slowdown and small job losses as a result of tariffs in isolation (if we add likely retaliation, the slowdown/job losses would be much bigger).

As I said, you won't find economists on the left, right, or center saying that tariffs are a good idea. Authoritarians like them because they create a lot of opportunities for corruption (like supporters/donors get exemptions, but companies who don't play ball are fucked).

Are federal campaign finances not automatically audited?

There are mandatory audits for statewide races in my state..

Edit: They are lmao.

Straight from the FEC's website:

The FEC audits all public funding recipients to ensure that the funds were spent in compliance with the law and that the candidate did not receive matching funds in excess of the candidate’s entitlement. Under certain circumstances, the FEC may require the repayment of public funds.
He's one of the biggest dumbasses on the forums. Between him and shadow run it's just nonstop copy pasta of right wing propaganda

I have never been a taibi fan as he is rabidly anti-police, but this was very interesting. Color me surprised that move on.org are the shitheads I always believed them to be. Politics is a disgustingly filthy arena. And also, surprising is that leftists are playing dirty. Shocking, really. But I am sure the republicans had their own anti third party schemes going as well.

I would love to see viable third party candidates because I hate both sides and haven’t liked a president in decades. Oddly enough, it was Bush, but looking back, I was pretty young a naive and got swept up in the 9/11 patriotism. I still think bush is mostly a good man, or he seems like a decent one, but if my knowledge of politics has taught me anything, it’s that 95% by my guess, of major politicians are selfish and only out for their best interests, increasing their vast wealth, and seeking even more power. So I am sure bush was no different, I just didn’t see it because I was 22 around that time.
Nice yellow card you emotional sissy.

I remember when Matt Taibbi and Glenn Greenwald were darling journalists for the lefty liberals in the DNC.

Now they are deemed 'fascists" by the lefty libs in the DNC.

Just goes to show, give or take, the left is always getting it wrong in one way or another. Freaking Losers
- Ultimost respect to that dude, for standing up against the joke that's is brazilian left!
