More shows = more fighters, more fighters = less fan familiarity with individual fighters, less fan familiarity = less interest, fewer stars, and fewer buys.

Who gives a shit about the buy rates. I don't care about the buy rates, I care about talent. Let the UFC worry about the buyrates. The talent today is higher as most who have been calling the UFC watered down readily admit.

You don't care about talent you just want to see 5 select fighter fight 3 times a year and UFC not hold any fights focused on anything but those select few fighters. That is a short term view and that's what happened a few years ago leaving the mess the UFC is in today with low buyrates. Buyrates are low today because stars weren't built properly during the spike years.

So what fighters are they promoting? They are doing the same shit they always did, promoting 3 letters. Throw some Singapore and China scrubs in those areas on cards with the main hype being 3 letters stamped on the cage.

I can't wait until this UFC Fight Pass Guy develops from awesome prospect to future Main card fighter. They sure as hell promoted the shit out of UFC Fight Pass for months. What weight class does UFC Fight Pass fight in anyways?

Already one half of the Co-main event and another Main card fighter from that "Stacked" London UFC fight pass card are cut. But UFC fight Pass itself is still getting a lot of promotion from the UFC.

UFC Fight Pass is coming for the belt!! The UFC sees it's passed mistakes and is now doing the right thing hyping this guy up for future stardom...UFC!!!

And every sports league in the world features deeper, better more talented athletes than the had years ago. WTF kind of point is that? But no sports league is cutting good but boring teams or players for the sake of entertainment or signing scrubs that don't belong skill wise in their league because of nationality.

If they bother to sit down and watch it yes they should enjoy the games they watch. They don't have to watch every NCAA football game but if they chose to sit down and watch they sho enjoy it if it's a good game.

What this article is saying and many fans are saying would be like saying the NCAA should even exist. Because they have no personal interest in every team they shouldn't be on TV at all. That's what this douche is saying. I have no interest in Swanson vs Stevens so UFC shouldnt put it on at all. Doesn't matter they are talented fighters and possibly the next title contender. UFC should not hold these events because I personally don't like every fighter on the card.

Do football fans sit around and ask why the NCAA is on TV? Should all these networks stop airing shows their is obviously an audience for because you personally only watch the NFL. Hel should the NFL only air the playoffs and the superbowl because that seems to be what the fans really want. Who gives a shit about all the regular season games... am I right.

If you're having a conversation about "star making" and "fan interest" - which is what everyone here has been doing, yourself included - then you care about buy rates.


Trying to change the topic of discussion, way into the conversation, is something frequently done by people who've realized that their original position was indefensible.
 
I have never been able to comment on the 'quality' of a card until AFTER I watched it.

Rashad vs Rampage = bad
Sam Stout vs Matt Wiman = good

I love it when this point comes up. By this logic there is no point in even telling the fans who is on the card beforehand. Just have mystery fights and hope they are good.

The build up and the story behind a fight are a critical part of the fight watching experience.

Your problem is not the talent level of fighters but the fact that you can't follow them all. The overall skill level is higher. You call UFC hiring a guy with the potential to be world champion watering down the product because you can't remember his name.

The gap between #1 fighter and #50 fighter today is smaller than the gap between the #1 fighter and the #10 fighter 6 or 7 years ago. Today the talent is so good the #25 fighter could hold his on against many in the top 5 in some divisions. Just like the persieved #10 fighter can steamroll someone thought to be one of the P4P best.

The % doesn't matter, it's the # that matters; in my example if they only kept 50 they'd have the top 1% as opposed to 3%.

And as to the talent being so good that the #25 can hang with the top 5
A) Where is this actually happening
and B) I generally don't listen when Dana tells me someone is p4p best.

I feel the same way about movies and think it's not right to judge a new release by box office receipts from opening weekend.

Nobody is forcing you do buy fightpass. You don't like the fights on fightpass... don't buy fightpass. Or only buy for the months you see a card that interests you. You don't hace tonwatch these cards... It doesn't effect the other cards.


Fighters that were Promted on the China cards... Tarec Saffadine and Gyun Hyu Lim. Unfortunately Tarec has been injured as has Lim. The next China Card was Stun Gun vs Hathaway. Stun Gun got a nice bump after that spinning elbow KO he pulled off on Hathaway.


You complain about UFC being the big name on the poster over the dighters. Back in the day that people seem to long for when cards were every other month and "stacked" and fighters were being promoted properly.... UFC didn't even put the fighters name on the marquee. Events were called Undisputed, Bedlam, Knock Out, Revolution etc... Hell maybe the mistake for the UFC was promoting the fighters at all.

That's what I don't get. Everyone here just basically says "the card is no good" beforehand, then they don't watch it, then come here afterwards and bash it, even though they didn't watch it. Most of the time the no name cards are better and more exciting to me because not knowing anything about either fighter adds excitement to what can happen. Whereas watching a GSP fight you know its gonna be jab jab jab, kick, superman punch, takedown, side control, scramble, repeat for 25 minutes.

I mean these foreign cards are being put together and marketed to the foreign market with (god forbid) a bunch of foreign fighters we've never heard of.

People talk so much crap about the UFC....I wonder how they feel about Bellator, WSOF, Shooto, KoC, etc.

Yeah they can go back to calling things "The War of 04", "Super Saturday", and "Unfinished Business".

Instead of UFC Johnson vs Bagautinov it should have Been UFC 174 "Hyper Drive!"....
