Protein shake: milk, ice cream, protein powder, peanut butter, oats
3 eggs, 2 chicken apple sausages, ketchup
Beef and rice

Notes: I am incredibly fatigued and angry at the world for some reason. It's the first day of the semester so my gym was filled with people. Night classes start tonight, not sure what my schedule will be like now but it is guaranteed to be affected.

December 2011 - right after my first PL meet. Started 'project butch' the day after.

January 2012 - about 1.5 months after bulking. I kinda just got more skinny fat. :(

I was taking all of the photos in the bikini in the first one but there was no way I was squeezing myself into that again.

I can't see a difference. Odd.

I also add in hypertrophy (conditioning) work.

About half my assistance work is hypertrophy. So main lifts> squat>dead>press>Oly lifts are strength work. Whatever assistance work is needed for those lifts is higher rep range.

Since you're bulking I wouldn't go crazy with it, addiding it in won't hurt.

Yeah, that's basically what I've been doing for the past few months. For some reason, when I first started 5/3/1 I would just do the main lifts and go home. I knew it was important but I guess I just recently started to value it more as I get more competitive and serious.

Noms:

Two chicken sausages and a coke (who eats this for breakfast?)
wendys chicken sandwich with fries and coke
large can of tuna fish + mayo + wheat thins
apple, banana
chocolate milk

My stomach is a garbage can.

Are you counting calories, macronutrients or carb cycling WC? My body recomposition has really taken off since I started paying attention to these things. Strength is on the up-and-up too since making sure I get 20% caloric surplus from adjusted BMR on training days. Rest days are supposed to be 20% under maintenance but I am lenient with this, as long as it's a deficit or equal to maintenance.

Anyway, soda for breakfast, Wendys and chocolate milk, idk man you have to expect some bf gain on a bulk like this especially in such a short period of time.

My honest opinion is that you are eating to much junk food. Your body doesn't want to build muscle off of Bic Mac's. Who knows, I could be completely wrong though.

If your not seeing muscle gains and you are seeing fat gains though, it may be time to bite the bullet and look at your diet.

I have this same problem. No fast food though, just sugar. Also I ate about two pounds of venison for lunch/dinner. MMMMmmmmmm.

Once you have a good foundation it seems you can play around with your diet more (eat junk food) :) but even then, not all the time.

Stock your fridge up with steak, chicken, salmon or any fish. Greens and some rice or pasta.
If $ a problem...Tuna!! protein shakes as well, I remember you saying you weren't crazy about your's I don't drink anything but Xtrem formulations 2.0, it's delicious!

XF Muscle - Xtreme Formulations

I would try and clean up your diet, eat solid good sources of food, No junk food, you want food to fuel your body to lift and help you recover for the next day.
You can have cheat meals, no biggie, but your main source of fuel should be solid.

Screw ya'll, I'm going to keep eating my Big Mac's.

No but really, I'm not upset about my body fat gain. I'm fully embracing it and was obviously expecting it eating the way that I am, that's the point. Sure, I wish I could have gained some more muscle but I don't have balls so it's going to take a little while.

C'mon, where are all the fat powerlifters to back me up? :P

Instead of Big Macs I like to get two McDoubles and have them add Mac sauce. You get more protein and calories for less money since McDoubles are on the value menu. Winning.

I'm not going to be able to back you up too much longer. My coach is putting me on a diet to make 242 in April. I'm gonna be SVELTE!

Lol, with all my eating weight gain attempts I can comfortably hold myself at 242.

Oh, and may god be with you during this evil diet.

My training partner and I were discussing this last night. I started training seriously and was 215, 4 months later I was 242. After 9 months of serious training, 259. And now I hover around 270. I'm a little taller and don't consider myself fat but I do eat too much. It is wonderful being big though.

My coach thinks my frame can support 308 but at that weight I'll just be fat and my wife has already put her foot down (she married a 215lber now I'm 270 lulz). The diet won't be that bad as there are A LOT of things I can cut out to lose weight before I'm on a chicken breast and salad diet.

Wow, Knuckle, thanks for abandoning me in fat world.

Noms:

Protein shake: coffee ice cream, milk, protein powder, peanut butter
A box of mac and cheese and beef
Large can of tuna fish + mayo + crackers
tortilla chips + avocado mixed with salsa

Notes: School started this week. I am not impressed. I'm bored and don't feel challenged but maybe that'll be a good thing.

Here is what my schedule will most likely look like:

Sunday: Deadlift
Monday: Press
Thursday: Squat
Friday: Bench

I thought about doing a two-day split but whenever I combine two lifts in one day, I end up skimping on the accessory. 4 days a week is what I'll be doing for now.

Double standards are a bitch, no?

Whilst in college and poor, I discovered this and have been doing it ever since. Essentially, you pay a dollar for a lower-carb Big Mac. This is how you win at life.

In one of these logs I read that you are in grad school for education. If I am correct, than my advice would be as such: if you can invest minimal time and effort, and come away with an M.Ed, do it. M.Ed.'s are not about learning, but rather about making you more money when you hit the workforce.

This is not a particularly altruistic or idealistic way of looking at your master's degree, but seems to be pretty realistic expectation for M.Ed.'s - at least according to my friends, many of whom pursued their master's in the Ivy League, and now wish they had attended somewhere considerably cheaper.

You will learn how to teach in the classroom by teaching in the classroom.

Lolz, my girlfriend (future wife) has accepted that I am going to get a lot bigger/heavier than I am now someday. She loves to feed me.

I know that I can very easily coast through this degree even though during orientation they told us how "difficult" it would be. I really am kind of a school nerd and love going to lectures and learning more about my field so I'm disappointed that I'm not actually going to be getting challenged more. Maybe I will be proven wrong towards the end of my studies.

Indubitably. At some point you will appreciate your degree, and your appreciation might stem more from the increased salary / hopefully-quicker-tenureship than from the knowledge gained. But if you learn yourself some knowledge along the way, all the better.

When the government-mandated nutrition classes start that forbay the students from eating McDonald's, will you feel hypocritical endorsing such?
