Deadlifts and milkshakes

Notes: Started the Paleo diet today. I don't even know why. I want to try and completley ween myself from grains and see how it makes me feel energy wise.
Let me tell you how this story ends: you will feel weaker and grouchier.

I figured it would. I couldn't even survive one day without grains. But I did eat a lot less of them. I'm also still drinking, so it's not really a strict diet. Got a wine drunk going on right now...yuck.

20lbs each hand x 10ish

Bench

75 x 5
75 x 5
Bar x 15
Bar x 15

Dbell saxon bends
x 15
x 15

Notes: Paleo did not even last a day. I ate three meals strictly meat, veggies and fruit and by the end of the night I ended up having some serious
sugar cravings. I'm making a bunch of excuses of why it's just not practical right now, but the truth is, I just like food.

The good news is I didn't lose any strength on my bench. I think I might even feel a bit stronger with it, must be all the pressing. I'd like to hit a 100 lb. bench soon.

Bad news is Steve doesn't use collars when benching and likes to risk my life while I'm spotting him.

Starting Strength

Could be helpful. I dont see any dips or pull ups in this log which may be beneficial or maybe even doing some SOHP may help. Just throwing out some ideas.

Thanks, I actually have the Starting Strength book but only end up using it for the text on each lift.

As for the other stuff, the gym that I'm using for the summer is pretty limited for chins/dips and thats the only reason I've been neglecting them. I can out-chin most of the guys on this forum.:icon_chee

Today's workout

Ate wayyyyyy too much food to the point where I felt sick. I wanted to go for a short bike ride but Goon insisted that I do bent-over rows today. Bleh.

DB shoulder complexes

Hang cleans - form work with the bar

BOR
Bar x 15
65 x 10
70 x 10
70 x 10

CoC Sissy
L x 10
R x 10

Tried to bend a white nail from Goon's bender bag, but I only put a slight bow in it. He told me a retarted child could bend the white nail so I felt a little pathetic after that. Guess nail bending is not my forte!

Quick, shitty time in the gym. Today was an exceptionally peculiar day down there. There was Goon and I working out, people playing ping pong RIGHT next to us with the balls flying under my feet and then the other half was being used for ghonorrhea/chlamydia testing...WTF!!???! WORST GYM EVER.

Irs a link to an article by Bill Starr on the press not the book.

Woops. It takes like forever to open links here, besides Sherdog for some reason, so I didn't even click on it and assumed you were just recommending the book. Should never assume!

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

Thats what I get for trying to help a girl :P. Anyways I used to have that problem and I use to just hit copy link and paste it in the browser bar.

"Nothing can stop me now"

...except eating only a granola bar for breakfast before working out.

Lifted with Charles today =) He is amazing helpful and helped Goon and I with SO many things today.

Warmed up with Charles' special Dynamic Warm Up

When rolling the tire back to its home, I dropped it on Charles' truck and broke some plastic off his bumper and made a huge dent in his truck. Luckily he didn't squash me!!

Yesterday

Deadlifts (new deadlift form, feels fantastic!!! I have absolutely NO back pain when Im deadlifting now. I am VERY excited about this)
135 x 3
135 x 3
135 x 3
135 + chains x 1x 5**

**The chains made the lock out a bit harder, but not a horrible difference.

Dbell shoulder complexes

Seated dbell press
15lbs each hand x 15

Single handed 25 lb press
x 10
x 10

Notes: I've been pretty sick the past week or so and as a result haven't been eating or sleeping very well. I went into the gym pretty excited to deadlift with the new form that Charles showed me, but also really exhausted. By the end of the workout, I was having some crazy heart palipitations!! I figured that'd be a good time to take it easy. Guess my CNS is shot.

Wiped the dust off my bike today and took it about 6.5 miles to a place called Hayden Valley. It's hilly and full of wild beasts. About 1 mile into the ride, I saw a grizzly bear. I hung out for a few minutes to watch it eat some flowers but I was more excited to ride than see bears! Last 3 miles were intense, legs were burning from the steep climb.

My goal is to ride 100 miles in total this week. Just to say I did it.

Hey which national park are you working in by the way? Heh a few days ago I was hiking in Sequioa National Park and I encountered a black bear about 30 yards from me, he was smallish tho only a yearling i think. Awesome work on the tire flips.

I'm working at Yellowstone National Park. That's awesome that you got to go to the Sequioas...I'd love to get to either them or the Redwoods before I head back to the East Coast. And as for bears, I've seen over 20 grizzlies since I've been here. I am just not impressed anymore!

Thanks about the tire flips, they might be the most fun thing to do in the world.

Nice tire flipping! Looks like you and goon had a blast with Charles. I would love to lift with someone like that.

I lol'd at the smashing charles truck and saying that it was lucky he didn't squash you. you got some good stuff going on in here. I have to ask though how can seeing a grizzly not be impressive even if you have seen them 20 times?

We DID have a blast. Charles is awesome!

Yeah, I'm the best trainee ever. And thanks! I owe all the good stuff going on in here to Goon and Charles and everyone else on Sherdog.

And as for the bears, I think the reason it hasn't been exciting is because everytime Ive been seeing them lately its been off the road. So not only am I watching, but about 30 other baffled tourists are watching as well. It gets kind of dangerous (especially when you're on a bike) People go bonkers when they see animals and start driving like morons in order to get as close as possible. I am waiting for the day one of the tourists get gorged. :icon_lol:

Couldn't squat today. Gym was being used for a movie.

8 mile ride...INTENSE, COLD, LONG, STEEP, FUN! Stayed at a pretty consistent 13mph pace. I'm finally figuring out how to use my bike gears.

Saw a lone bison, some elk running and a grizzly + excited tourists AGAIN! This is what I mean...
