Great job with the push press. Is 70 the heaviest you got? Way to persevere and hit that rep.

Yeah 70 is my PR and has been for way too long. I am starting to get really frustrated. Any suggestions? I have a video of my failed attempt at 75.

I would maybe do some assistance exercises to help strengthen your shoulders.

Try something like 3-5x10 of sitting barbell presses or even a machine press. Generally speaking I'd try working higher reps of 6-10.

Strong pressing. That's about 50lbs higher than my girlfriend can do lol.

I know you keep suggesting the higher rep thing and I'm not ignoring your adivce! I definitely agree, I just keep getting overzealous and need to settle with doing lighter weight.

Next workout, I promise I will do this!! Thanks Devil :)

Thanks, that makes me feel a lot better actually. I thought my pressing sucked, even for a girl.

What helped my push press a lot was focusing on strict pressing.

Yeah, that's why I've been working on although everyone seems to have a different opinion on this.

Today...wasn't planning on going to the gym but needed to kill some time while at school.

Bar x 10
55 x 7
55 x 7
60 x 4
65 x 2
65 x 2
70 x FAIL! god damnit
70 x 1
Bar x 6 (strict)

Press machine...lots of reps

Hyper x 15
Dips x 2
x 3
x 3

Ran 3/4 mile on the track in my cons. Sprinted the straight aways...my lower legs really don't like when I don't wear running shoes.

I Decided to FINALLY listen to Devil's advice and do higher reps with the push press. I always have the plan to do it but then get overly ambitious and try to go heavier, really had to force myself not to go crazy today.

They felt good and a lot stronger. So I'm happy:icon_chee

Schools over, taking a break on Long Island for the night, then leaving for Yellowstone tomorrow morning! This will probably be my last post on here for a little while since I will have limited internet access but I'll still be training and I'll try to post my progress as often as possible!

Goals by the time I am back in August...
Squat - 175
Bench - 115
Push press - 95
Deadlift - 225 (too ambitious but I don't care)

Non-lifting goals
Read The Illiad
Do a handstand
Learn to juggle
Don't die doing something stupid...

You press the same as quite a few guys at my gym lol. Nice work. Have fun in Yellowstone.

I don't really know if I should feel good about myself or bad for those men...lol but thanks!

Ran 1/2 mile today with my pup and rode 6 miles on mi bicicleta.

Just found out I got a C+ in my 6 credit course that requires a B+, and now I have to stay an extra semester. What great news to start my trip on!

Finally have internet and a stable location...

I'm in Montana working my new job and have just discovered weights in the basement. There's a really small barbell, might be 15 pounds and exercise plates (not bumper) that go up to 50lb plates. It's going to be interesting to figure out how to do my future workouts...

I plan on starting to lift again as soon as I get a bit more acclimated to this weather. I'm at a pretty high elevation and I get out of breath from just walking up stairs. Could be a week or two before I can do anything serious.

My legs are getting pretty wrecked from these mountainous hikes though!

I thought this was funny and since nobody reads the pub, more people will see it here.

^^^ Real fucking random, but kinda funny since I burn just about everthing.

My new job kinda sucks, I work long hours and it's a lot of physical work (moving furniture, lifting beds, walking EVERYWHERE) Working long hours for shit pay and way too exhausted to lift when I get back. So...I decided to start training with my grippers again.

Closed the 1 CoC to parallel yesterday and I got really excited.
Worked with the sport today, did about 5 sets of 4 with each hand.

I'm going to attach the sport to a carabiner on my uniform and try and do them all day long. Trainer should be coming in the mail soon!

You can always come work on the rigs one state away and learn what a lot of physical work is really about :icon_twis ... It would solve the shit pay issue though.

Your job ain't nothing compared to being a ROOM ATTENDANT. Nah Ronin, I have crazy respect for people who have physically demanding jobs and still lift afterwards. I don't know how people do it.

Did you get my PM response by the way? I can't tell if it sent and my comp. craps out very often here.

First time lifting since I've moved to Montana. Goon and I found weights in the basement of our building. Pretty awkward set up. There's weights on one side of the room, and the rest of the area is a pub/pool table/ping pong. I'm really not digging it, but it will have to do.

The high altitude has really kicked our ass strength wise. Had to lower the weight for basically everything for my first time and am going to have to switch up my routine a bit.

Walking lunges with 20lb dumbbells each hand

Shoulder complexes 5 lbs
Standing dumbbell press - 10s x 10
15s x 8
20s x 7 x 5

Deadlift - 115 x 5 x 3
I actually saw stars on my last set. Just for 115! :icon_neut

CoC sport - crushing that thing all day long. Totally going to become a grip nerd while I'm here.

The trick with the push press is learning to "launch" the bar off your delts through the power of your hips. My max strict standing military is around 205. However my Push Press is 260. It takes a while..but really focus on using the power in your hips to pop that bar up, thats the trick.

Like what was stated before..start with high reps to master the movement first before going heavy.

Good luck. Dosnt seem like you need it though. Your a hard worker obviously.

Dont take this as me back tracking..I still hate you.

See that last part there...the"I still hate you". Thats a joke.

Aww, well now I feel kinda bad about threatening to hurt you.

I promise to not choke you if you don't fist me.

Thanks for the advice.

It's not that bad, you just gotta motivate yourself.

I don't think so...I haven't had any new PMs for a long time.
