Rumored DDP VS Khamzat a done deal

if only the pink goof didn't give that hillbilly strickland an undeserved title shot this awesome fight would've happened by now

If only the desertbilly Kham could fight in Australia, the fight would of happened by now

The UFC are leaking an insane amount of matchups. Dana must be seriously desperate to fill UFC 317, 318, and 320, which all lack main events.

So far UFC insiders have leaked: DDP vs Khamzat at UFC 317, despite no contract signed, then they leaked Islam vs Topuria, again no contract. Then they leak Topuria vs Oliveira and maybe Islam moves up to 170. Then Chael Sonnen leaks Aspinall vs Gane @ HW for interim title.

Now Chael Sonnen is leaking UFC plans to make Islam vs Gaethje @ UFC 317. It's crazy. I've never seen the UFC scramble so much to fill events.

No, it's not ridiculous at all.

What's ridiculous is when people act like the guy who had a camp isn't also taking a fight on short notice.

Every fight is different.

If you're fighting usman, you prepare knowing that it's going to be a grind and he's going to make you work for everything.

Going from a striker to a grindy cardio machine wrestler on 9 days notice is a massive switch up and it makes no sense that such a thing would be ignored.

That benefitted Usman a lot more than it did Khazmat. I dont think he wouldve got the same openings if it was an entire camp preparing for that specific style.

There's a reason why top fighters in boxing and MMA don't like short notice fights or even outright refuse them in boxing. Maybe it doesn't seem like a big deal, but it changes things drastically, especially when you've been preparing for a particular style and character for months.

Imagine fighting a former world champion, one fight removed from the title on 9 days notice. It's a big deal. Not a lot of fighters would take that and for good reason.

You're not wrong, but that would imply that Chimaev is going to change his style, which we both know isn't going to happen. whoever he's fighting is going to deal with his wrestling, full stop.

You think he's gonna stand and trade with Costa? he's gonna shoot when the bell rings. I don't think his game plan changes at all, hence the excuse is garbage in my opinion. Not to mention, he was training to fight a MW very much on the large side of the spectrum, which also doesn't jive with the initial "Not training cardio" nonsense.

Dricus via round 3 or 4 KO/TKO

Dricus will for sure overpower that freight train Khamzat in the first round or so by negating the takedowns. This will lead to the fight being taken into deep waters where Dricus has all of the advantages.

(though, Dricus' coach says, Dricus will submit Khamzat since Dricus always fights his opponents at their strength).

I'd love nothing more than to see DDP pull it off but Khamzat keeps making it look easy. DDP just has that extra something right now where I could see him surviving. If Usman and Burns could almost beat Khamzat, DDP certainly can.

You're viewing it a bit too simplistically

It's not about just preparing for a striker vs a grappler

And nobody suggested he never trained cardio.

But, each opponent is just very different.

You train for your opponents strengths. Would a fighter blast cardio, preparing for an all out death match, when their opponent doesn't fit that description?

No. It's fight and training iq bro. You only have so much time to train and it needs to be very specific, especially for a high level opponent.

I understand what you're saying, but you don't quite see the bigger picture.

With Max/Dustin in July this probably means DDP/Khamzat in Aug maybe in Chicago. Guess they push back Ank/Alex 2 to Abu Dhabi in Oct. If Islam fights int fight week vs Topuria no guarantee he's ready for Abu DHabi and they expect big fights with a Muslim champ.

It is also possible Khamzat cant get into the US and Alex/Ank 2 headlines Chicago which was rumored and DDP/Khamzat ends up in Abu Dhabi but that would suck. That would mean if Khamzat wins he's an overseas champ only and we might be seeing one fight a year type shit. Lets hope they can get him into US and he fights in like Aug or something.

DDP went further in hit comment too:

DDP :

"Ok, so everyone had their opinions and rumors and stories about a shin break, injuries, etc. I found it all very entertaining, unfortunately none of it is true and myself and the UFC already discussed a fight date and opponent, the June fight was never signed and I did not pull out of any fight, I'm the champion, I know when I fight you as a contender, just show up when I tell you to. Fight announcement coming soon, stay tuned. #PreprareToBeAmazed, #Stillknocks
"

In the comments when Chimaev called DDP biggest BS due to the "injury", many South Africans DDP fans wrote as if DDP had just accomplished something amazing in an off screen event. Some were even saying "If Khamzat gets to know this, he won't even want to fight you lolol" or "you're the GOAT!!" .... Like, that UFC 314 event was somewhat suspicious to me... I almost wondered if some big names were being hidden by other not so relevant well known names as a way to smokescreen the real fight. Did DDP as a side quest defeat Jon Jones or Tom Aspinall in HW? Because this injury thing was a cover up and ppl from the UFC told DDP not to reveal it... But which accomplishment would be covered in an event with NPCs covering the big names but at the same time, each fighter, let's say Paddy the Baddy represented a JJ vs DDP or JJ vs Alex or JJ vs Aspinall/ Aspinall vs DDP match up...?

One curious thing tho is that ever since the UFC 314 Tom has looked more anxious or worried at some big consequences... And when he was quickly analysing the matches, he said "Jean Silva vs Bryce Mitchell, likely the most intriguing fight of all" and then later he lamented Bryce lost, saying "Unfortunately Bryce Mitchell lost... Also, Jean Silva, in a moment of pressure managing to pull up they guillotine choke is just surreal....

Like, wtf...?

I actually think DDP gets another title defense victory. I have a feeling it'll be one hell of a fight & this will be the fight that pushes DDP over for the fans on him being the real deal.

One of our fighters won a match abroad, but the organization hasn’t updated his record. We notified them with no response. How can we help him get it corrected?
