Media DDP: Experience in adapting is why I'll wrestle (head coach agrees)

DDP usually paces himself in round 1 (and 2), then ups the volume later on.

He doesn't have an unlimited gas tank either.
But it's much better than Chimaev's, and he'll use that as an advantage. He hasn't fought someone with cardio as bad as Chiamaev's since Brunson, so he doesn't have to worry about pacing himself as much this fight.

We can agree to disagree.

We have never seen Dricus have a round 1 as fast paced as a Khamzat round 1 yet.

I think any difference in cardio in a wrestling/grappling heavy fight is way smaller than the popular narrative suggests.

DDP is clearly going to come out aggressive and try to pressure Khamzat to move backwards abd become defensive instead of offensive.

I'm rooting for Dricus and I hope this does not go badly for him...this wrestling thing. As the saying goes, there are levels to this shit.

I think team Dricus think his strength and size will be enough to compete in the wrestling/grappling department, hence why he seems to have bulked up for this fight.

I think they are overlooking all the other relevant attributes, like speed/agility/technique/balance, etc.
And dricus already as he is is clumsy

if he does decide to do it we could be treated to a grappling clinic, not quite shields maia but something along those lines. would be fun from a purist standpoint to see them do it for 5 full rounds; the just bleed crowd wouldn't like it but i'd be curious to see how it went down.

DDP is the strongest and most determined opponent Khamzhat has ever faced, but he is also a guy that got taken down by Brunson and Whittaker almost immediately in the first round (when both were pretty old already).

It's kind of about DDP surviving the first-round blitz and not making critical errors trying to escape bad positions, because it seems inevitable that he'll get taken down early and controlled to start the fight.

I could see it working in the sense that making Borz use some defensive wrestling means he cant just spam offense.

Do we have videos of him wrestling/ grappling large opponents?

When he trained at AllStars, he would mostly train with LHWs and HWs (too powerful for the WWs/MWs), and he said today that he's more used to wrestling bigger guys.

I think he would quickly turn defensive wrestling into offensive wrestling, if Dricus shoots early on.

Are there videos?

Im interested in seeing that

I couldn't find it on a quick YouTube search, but I've heard it a lot from interviews with Alexander Gustafsson and Latifi, their coaches, and I'm sure I've seen some videos back in the days.

This is a very interesting fight. It will depend to a great degree on Khamzat's cardio and like Mike Tyson said everyone is a hero until they are punched in the mouth. Let's see how lion hearted Khamzat is with a broken nose. We know DDP will never quit.
